A Tesla driver left her car on a street and went to work. She could never imagine what was waiting for her when she returned – and it was all caught on camera

A Tesla driver has been left shocked after a vicious vandal bent one of her side mirrors and destroyed her rear license plate in a seemingly random attack.

The woman had parked the EV last week on a residential street in Lindfield, on Sydney’s Upper North Shore, just a short walk from the train station.

She activated ‘sentry mode’, which uses built-in cameras and sensors to record suspicious activity around the car, before leaving for work.

When she returned to her car that evening, the woman was horrified to discover that her license plate and left door mirror had been destroyed.

She consulted CCTV footage and saw a man wearing a black sweater, black trousers and black gloves approach the car while holding a leaf blower.

The woman shared the video on Facebook, which showed the man checking his surroundings before calmly destroying the vehicle.

He was seen standing next to the EV and bending the side mirror on the left side of the car.

He then approached the Tesla from behind and bent the license plate, causing the bracket to come loose from the vehicle.

Later that evening, the man returned to continue his vandalism.

He was wearing a jacket and a shoulder bag as he bent the other side of the rear license plate.

“This is why I always leave Sentry mode on!” wrote the outraged Tesla driver.

‘Just normal parking on the street, close to the train station.

“One of the homeowners did this.”

Viewers were quick to admonish the vandal in the comments, with many urging the driver to contact police.

‘What’s wrong with people? This is just horrible behavior,” wrote another.

Another said the man was a “larva.”

The woman said she had filed a police report.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted NSW Police for comment.

What is Tesla Sentry Mode?

When Sentry Mode is enabled, Tesla’s onboard cameras and sensors (if equipped) remain enabled and ready to record suspicious activity around the vehicle when Model 3 is locked and in park.
