The government this week announced a new recovery plan for NHS dentistry after research in December found that four out of five dentists in England are not taking new NHS patients.

The number of NHS dentists in England is at its lowest level in a decade, according to figures released last year by the British Dental Association. It is reported that some practices have removed patients from their NHS lists during the pandemic who did not present for treatment.
