Protests break out across Israel as thousands of Israelis demand Donald Trump steps in to ‘end this f***ing war now’, with fiery clash erupting between demonstrators and police

Large-scale protests broke out across Israel this evening as anti-government demonstrators called on US President-elect Donald Trump to intervene and end the war with Hamas in Gaza by force.

Tensions among large sections of the Israeli public had already reached a boiling point over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s handling of the conflict, but the release of a new Hamas hostage video of 19-year-old Liri Albag has sparked new calls for his arrest to remove from power.

In the emotional video, Liri, the youngest remaining female prisoner held by Hamas, was seen shaking and crying as she begged Israeli authorities to do more to ensure her and the other hostages’ safe release.

In Jerusalem tonight, hundreds of demonstrators calling for a hostage-taking will march to Netanyahu’s residence in the city.

Protesters could be seen carrying banners reading: “They are all humanitarians.” This referred to reports that current negotiations are focusing on an initial release of ‘humanitarian’ hostages.

Upon reaching Netanyahu’s home, the demonstrators were addressed by Yoav Engel, the father of former hostage Ofir Engel, who said: “we don’t need to wait for a miracle, we need a decision and action.”

Earlier on Saturday, four protesters were also arrested outside the Israeli prime minister’s home.

There were also several other protests underway in the Israeli capital this evening, including a group of minimally clad anti-war demonstrators who positioned themselves in the middle of the city’s King George Street.

The protesters have covered their skin with Hebrew and Arabic messages, which translates to “they are freezing to death in Gaza too,” according to the Times of Israel.

Tel Aviv is also experiencing widespread protests, with apparently thousands of demonstrators joining in as fierce clashes with authorities broke out on the city’s streets.

During the now weekly anti-government and pro-hostage rally in the city center, Israeli police could be seen charging through crowds of protesters to put out bonfires.

There was also pushing and shoving between police and the crowd, with a number of arrests reportedly made.

Speakers at the rally also addressed a crowd of about 1,500 people in front of the IDF headquarters, where hostage family members called on Donald Trump to intervene and end the war.

Shahar Mor, the cousin of deceased hostage Avraham Munder, told the crowd that the US president-elect “must stop arming the revenge campaign in Gaza.”

Omri Lifshitz, son of captured survivor Yocheved Lofshitz and hostage Oded Lofshitz, also made a plea to President Trump, asking him to “end this damn war now.”

Protesters in attendance could also be seen handing out the red caps emblazoned with the slogan “Make America Great Again” that have become so synonymous with the American politician in recent times.

Along Tel Aviv’s Begin Road, the Times of Israel reports that six protesters were arrested after refusing to clear the street.

Officers on horseback were seen wading into the crowd as officers with water cannons looked on.

Prime Minister Netanyahu has so far not spoken out about tonight’s widespread demonstrations against his government, but has reportedly spoken to Liri Albag’s family.

A spokesman for Mr Netanyahu said: “The Prime Minister told the family that he sympathizes with the suffering that Liri, her family and all hostages and their families are experiencing.

“The Prime Minister assured them that Israel continues to work tirelessly to bring Liri and all hostages home, and that efforts continue – even now.”
