Tekken 8 fad quitters can expect a ban in the future, says director
Tekken project executive game director Katsuhiro Harada has spoken about Tekken 8‘s problem with ‘pluggers’ – those who disconnect mid-match when they are about to lose to avoid taking a loss – and stated that improvements are on the way.

Translated by producer Michael Murray, Harada admitted that there is no “perfect solution” to the problem, but “we are trying to improve it” to at least display accurate broken ratios on players’ profiles. This should help flag when players are regularly disconnecting from matches, and allow others to decline ranked matches against them if they wish.
However, this is just the beginning, as there are plans to eventually impose a ban on regular anger quitters as well. But before that happens, the team needs to “err on the side of caution” and take a few extra steps to ensure it can go ahead with the action.
“It is clear that we want to ban these people from the game,” he said. “But there are many legal protections in different countries and in different ways around the world. So we’re being very careful that we have all that kind of paperwork and the methodology needed to remove these people from the game servers before we go ahead with the bans. It will happen, just be patient.”
Harada then made it clear that those with shaky internet shouldn’t worry about getting banned because their game is disconnected due to a bad connection. “This is (for) people who do it all the time, so if you only have a rare occasion, you don’t have to worry about it,” Murray translated.
At this time, it’s unclear when players can expect these changes to be implemented, but rest assured that the issue has been recognized and improvements are on the way.
