Naima Liggon, 16, was taken to a local hospital after the stabbing at the fast food restaurant in the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to The Washington PostThe stabbing was the result of an argument over sweet and sour sauce.

At a court hearing on Monday, Detective Brendan Jasper testified that Liggon’s stabbing started because of the dispute over the sauce.

The detective testified that Liggon, from Waldorf in Baltimore, and another girl began beating a 16-year-old, who then lashed out at Liggon and her friend as they attempted to get into a car.

Liggon was said to have been stabbed in her chest and abdomen with a seven and a half inch pocket knife.

At the hearing, the unnamed 16-year-old girl, also from Waldorf, claimed that the stabbing was done in self-defense and that she was knocked to the ground by Liggon and another person during the fight.

The girl was initially arrested on Sunday afternoon and charged with manslaughter while armed.

The Metropolitan Police said when they came in to arrest the unknown suspect, she was carrying a knife.

On Monday, DC Superior Court Judge Sherri Beatty-Arthur ordered the suspect to be held until Friday. He said, “In the end, someone died over a dispute over sauce.”

The police told Wusa9 that the two had ordered food from McDonald’s and then got into a car together when they got into an argument that led to the stabbing.

In a statement from her family, shared by the outlet, they said: ‘Naima was a beautiful, smart, funny and unique young lady who loved life. She was loved and admired by so many people.
