Teen football player, 16, who disappeared and sparked two-day search in Washington is found

A teen football player who disappeared and sparked a two-day search in Washington was found but a day later charged with murder after a 51-year-old was shot dead. 

Gabriel Michael Davies, 16, from Olympia, along with another male of the same age, was charged with second-degree murder, burglary and the unlawful possession of a firearm after the death of the 51-year-old. 

The 51-year-old, who has not been named, was found in Orting on Thursday at home by police after he did not come to work for four days and officers did a welfare check.

Officers are holding the teens at the Remann Hall Juvenile Detention Center after they arrested them at 8pm on Friday night.

Davies, from Olympia, had gone missing on Wednesday on his way to football practice. 

According to the Chronicle, before he was found, some people had seen him going into Millersylvania State Park.

At around 10pm on Thursday night he was found on Tilley Road Southwest by officers, who had previously found his car unoccupied under ‘suspicious circumstances’, with blood inside and his cell phone smashed on the floor.

Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Sgt. Darren Moss said that Davies and the victim knew each other.

Pierce County Sheriff’s Office announced the charges against Davies and the other 16-year-old on Saturday.

No other details have been revealed about the murder by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

However, they have said that there was ‘probable cause’ to arrest both teenagers.
