A teenager is under police custody after evading security at Mexico City’s international airport and running into the landing gear of a plane waiting to take off.
The teen, who was identified as César, climbed a chain-linked fence and could be seen crossing the airport tarmac toward a parked Volaris Airlines plane on Sunday afternoon.
The person, who authorities say was under the influence of a controlled substance, then approached the landing gear and stood in front of it before climbing inside.
In an attempt to get César to get off the plane, a security guard handed him a soda can, though it is not known if that was the teenager’s request in exchange for his leaving.

César immediately opened the can and took a sip before leaving the landing gear.
Images showed that an officer signaled César to just wait, because they were afraid he would have fallen down without any help.
An airport employee then stepped forward with a ladder that was then placed in front of the landing gear.
However, security and the police were afraid that he would fall in the process and asked him to wait on a ladder.
In a statement, Mexico City International Airport said César was under the influence of a controlled substance and was under investigation for endangering the lives of himself and passengers.

César finally stepped down the ladder and was immediately grabbed by a soldier and led away.
In a statement, Mexico City International Airport said César is under investigation for endangering the lives of passengers as well as his own.
“Thanks to the timely response of the above authorities and the airline itself, an event with greater consequences was prevented,” the airport said.
