Teddi Mellencamp urges fans to ‘get those skin checks’ amid cancer battle after doctors find another suspicious spot… 3 months after surgery

Teddi Mellencamp’s doctors have found another ‘abnormal spot’ on her body three months after she underwent surgery in her battle against skin cancer.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 42, revealed in October last year that she had been diagnosed with stage 2 of the disease and underwent surgery to remove melanoma from her back in December.

But she has now revealed her medical team is investigating another suspicious spot on her arm.

In a post on Instagram, she gave an update on her surgery scar and shared news about her three-month check-up.

She wrote: ‘What a difference three months can make! My scar is healing nicely, and I have the best doctors to thank.

‘But in all transparency, there was also one abnormal spot during my three-month check-up that the doctor thought we should biopsy, she revealed.

‘It’s on the other side of my body, so prayer is nothing. But I thought it was a good time to remind you to get those skin checks.”

Teddi underwent surgery late last year after a new form of treatment to help her immune system fight the cancer cells didn’t work.

Before the surgery, Teddi explained to fans on Instagram, “Long story short, the immunotherapy treatment did not work on my melanoma.

‘I had a wide excision removal on my most recent melanoma last week to see if this was the case, and unfortunately it wasn’t.

“I have been given a few new options and I have decided with my doctors that the best next step is surgery on December 26 to remove more of the problematic area.”

‘I don’t like to go down and my fear goes away, but I have faith that everything will be fine and the reason this is happening to me is because I am able to raise awareness. (sic)’

Since the operation, Teddi has had to have a check-up every three months.

Stressing the importance of booking skin checks, she added: ‘After the operation, God willing, we will continue to monitor my body closely every three months.

‘In the meantime, I’m so looking forward to spending Christmas with my loved ones and I hope this is a reminder to book your skin checks for the New Year.’

When she revealed her fresh scar from surgery, one of the comments caught her attention.

‘Someone just messaged me that my scar looks like a whale swallowing air bubbles. It made me laugh,” she wrote at the time.

She continued: ‘I’m not very artistic, so all I see is a Z’ – what do you see? #funnyresponsesonly #skincancerawareness @curemelanoma.’
