Ted Lasso might be getting an AFC Richmond-focused spinoff

Ted Lasso‘s third season reached its end, but it’s still not really clear if the show is officially over or not. While everyone around the show has suggested that Ted Lasso is over, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the end of following AFC Richmond’s ups and downs. In fact, it now appears that a spin-off is in the works to follow the club and its new set of coaches.

On Tuesday, The Apple TV Twitter account tweeted a picture of Beard, Roy and Nate, all in Richmond’s locker room in their new training uniforms. The tweet’s caption reads, “Smells like potential.”

While this is far from an official announcement, it certainly feels like a hint that a sequel series is on the way. This also seems like the most natural way for the show to continue, with these three characters taking over coaching duties at the club and trying to carry on Ted’s legacy – while Lasso himself is back in Kansas City.

In fact, even the show’s ending seems to hint at this possibility, at least slightly. When Ted tells Trent Crimm that Crimm’s book should be mentioned The Richmond Road instead of The Lasso Roadit feels like the show is pointing out that a Ted Lasso-less series can’t really be called Ted Lasso more, so maybe it’s time for a new title and a new chapter.

A spin-off of the series wouldn’t come as much of a surprise, as Apple still hasn’t officially said so Ted Lasso‘s third season was its last, and considering how popular the show still is for the streaming service. But as logical as a spin-off may be, for now we only have this picture. We’ll have to wait for Apple for official word on whether or not we’ll be returning to Richmond for another season.
