Senator Ted Cruz believes Democrats are ready to suck it up and wage a “Weekend at Bernie”-style campaign to try to push 81-year-old President Joe Biden to a second term.
It comes not long after the media firestorm over the DOJ report that called out Biden’s “diminished capabilities” and limited memory.
Cruz, a Republican and 2016 presidential candidate, has previously claimed that Democrats had lined up former First Lady Michelle Obama to replace Biden after the ticket.
While he admits he has said so in the past, Cruz now thinks Democrats are ready to push Biden through after the “corporate media” started “resisting” the oldest president in American history.
“The Democrats and the media would be thrilled if they could wave a magic wand and put Joe Biden there for four years or more,” Cruz said. said this week on his podcast, Verdict.

“They’re not concerned that he doesn’t have the competency to do the job. There’s only one thing they’re worried about: him losing. “If they believed he would win, they would be fine with Weekend at Bernie showing him as a corpse and saying Joe Biden is there, and let’s keep pulling the strings,” he added.
Cruz is referring to the 1989 comedy hit in which two men try to trick people into believing their deceased boss is still alive to avoid being suspected of killing him.
The senator added that Democrats are really just concerned: “They’re afraid he’s going to lose.”
“If he remains the nominee, they will line up again and they will immediately start saying that it is ageist and racist and that it is even terrible to ask these questions, and they have no shame,” said he.
He did say that this period of media criticism of Biden’s age is “the moment where they’re trying to see if they can push them out and replace them with Michelle Obama.”
But Cruz reiterated that they will be “completely silent” on the issue if he makes it to September as the nominee.
A large majority of American voters – 86 percent – say President Joe Biden, 81, is too old for another term, a new poll shows.
The poll came just days after the report, which also said Biden was “a likeable, well-meaning, older man with a poor memory.”

Meanwhile, 62 percent of respondents in the ABC News/Ipsos Polls show that former President Donald Trump, 77, is also too old for another term in the White House.
Fifty-nine percent of respondents say both of 2024’s top competitors are too old, while 27 percent think only the current president is old enough to be left out.
Biden is the oldest president in American history. He broke Trump’s record by eight years when he took office in January 2021 at the age of 78.
If Biden is elected to a second term, he would be 82 years old at the time of his inauguration.
When only their own party’s preferences are taken into account, 73 percent of Democrats think Biden is too old and only 35 percent of Republicans think that of Trump.
Ninety-one percent of independents say Biden is too old and 71 percent of this voting bloc say the same about the former president.
The latest negative polling on Biden’s re-election bid comes after Thursday’s release of the long-awaited DOJ report, which recommended no charges against the former president.
However, it was still just as damaging to Biden because it raises questions about his fitness for office.
