Ted Cruz says Chrissy Teigen miscarried in 2020 with the loss of her third child, but now “characterizes it as a life-saving abortion” to support her pro-choice stance in the Roe v Wade debate.
Teigen, 36, lost her third child – a boy she and husband John Legend Jack – midway through her pregnancy in September 2020. She suffered placental abruption after 20 weeks and had to give birth to Jack, knowing he was carrying it outside the womb. would not survive.
Several weeks ago, at an event in Los Angeles, Teigen, who is currently pregnant with the couple’s fourth child, said she had, in fact, had a “life-saving abortion” and had only just come to terms with it. characterization of it in the context of Roe v Wade is destroyed.
“I told the world we had a miscarriage, the world agreed we had a miscarriage, all the headlines said it was a miscarriage…let’s just call it what it was: it was an abortion. An abortion to save my life for a baby who had absolutely no chance,” she said.
On a recent episode of his podcast show Verdict with Ted CruzCruz insisted that what Teigen suffered was indeed a miscarriage, that it remains protected under the new abortion laws in America, and that she is only now describing it as an abortion because of the current political climate.
“She may want to characterize it as abortion in this political context, but she described it as a miscarriage at the time and it certainly sounds like that was an accurate description,” he said.

Chrissy Teigen with husband John Legend in 2020. She suffered a placental abruption at 20 weeks and was forced to give birth to her baby, Jack, at 20 weeks, knowing he would die minutes later to save her own life. A few weeks ago, she said it was a “life-saving abortion.”
Cruz continued, “If there’s a medical procedure in that context, it’s not an abortion.
“It is the law in all 50 states, and it should be the law in all 50 states, that doctors can intervene to save the mother’s life, even if it means tragically losing the child.
“There is nobody, even the most robust pro-life advocates, nobody claims that when the mother’s life is in danger, you cannot take extraordinary medical steps to preserve the mother’s life.”
Conservative presenter Liz Wheeler had asked him: ‘Chrissy Teigen, she tragically lost her son two years ago, halfway through her pregnancy. She had a placental abruption.
“They had to induce her contractions, he wasn’t viable yet. She had a miscarriage, she posted the photos publicly, they were heartbreaking photos.
Fast forward two years to now, Chrissy Teigen announces that she recently realized that her miscarriage two years ago was actually an abortion. Do you have a response to Chrissy Teigen?’
Wheeler then said it only “added to the tragedy” to now describe the loss as an abortion.
Teigen did not immediately respond to questions from DailyMail.com about Cruz’s comments on Tuesday morning.
Teigen has been candid about the loss of the family, sharing photos of Jack giving birth prematurely and later writing extensively in a Medium post about the complications
“My doctors diagnosed me with placental abruption,” Teigen wrote in her Medium post. The condition is uncommon, but deadly for both baby and mother
Conservative presenter Liz Wheeler said it ‘added to the tragedy’ to describe Teigen’s loss as ‘abortion’
She was admirably candid at the time of the loss and wrote extensively in a Medium post about how she had endured the abruption.
“My doctors diagnosed me with partial placental abruption. I always had placenta problems. I had to give birth to Miles a month earlier because his stomach wasn’t getting enough food from my placenta. But this was my first abruption. We kept a close eye on it, hoping things would heal and stop,” she said.
Abortion laws differ in every state, but it is legal in every state in America if it is considered medically necessary to save the mother’s life.
Placental abruption is an uncommon but serious pregnancy complication that can be fatal to both the mother and fetus.
It involves the placenta detaching from the uterus, cutting off the fetus’s supply of nutrients and oxygen it needs to develop and causing heavy, life-threatening bleeding for the mother.
Teigen, writing in a Medium essay at the time, begged other women suffering from the complication to share their stories.
“The worst part is knowing that there are so many women who won’t get these quiet moments of joy from strangers.
“I beg you to please share your stories and be kind to those who pour out their hearts.”
