Tech expert reveals little-known iPhone hack that makes flying easier

  • Techvlogger on TikTok has revealed flight hack, explaining the simple process
  • It shows a real-time map of your flight, among other detailed information

After waving goodbye to your luggage and watching it disappear down the conveyor belt behind the check-in clerk… you’re left with a strip of paper.

The boarding pass, your ticket to ride that you put in your passport and relentlessly check to make sure it’s still there for two hours until — breathe — you finally scramble up the stairs to your flight and give it its last air, waving to the flight attendant like a lottery ticket.

And after that… it’s dead to you. But it necessarily had to be. Because that slip of paper has a secret power you didn’t know existed.

There is a little known iPhone trick that allows you to check all this by scanning your pass on your Apple device.

Tech vlogger using @BetimiTech on TikTok posted a video showing travelers how to do this.

He explained that with one simple tap you can find out all your flight details, including whether your plane is delayed and how long the journey itself will take.

Then after opening it in your Photos application, you need to tap on the details of the flight number to open the preview flight option

On the video, which has been viewed more than 51,000 times, the TikToker posted: “You can see how long your trip is and everything else.”

In the video, the tech pro proceeds to produce a boarding pass and opens the Camera app on his iPhone.

He then takes a picture of it – making sure the handwriting is clear – and opens it in the Photos application.

By double-tapping to zoom in on the screen, he can press the flight details.

This brings up a little black box and he presses the option to view ‘flight preview’.

Another tab will then open, displaying a real-time map of his flight.

In the detailed preview, he can see where he is flying from and to, what time the flight departs and arrives, in addition to a world map of the journey, terminal number and gate.

In addition, the flight duration is described, as well as a section below for baggage claim.

While not all flights appear, most major airlines support this feature on the iPhone.

And with summer vacation just around the corner, this isn’t the only plane trick you need to know.

You can also now add a boarding pass, ticket, or other pass to Apple Wallet on your iPhone.
