Tears of the Kingdom players are using Link’s new powers to bully Koroks

Consider yourself warned: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was just released on Friday and players are already devising wicked and vicious ways to bully the forest spirits known as Koroks and posting videos of their exploits online. Platforms like TikTok have viral videos showing the unique ways the game’s building elements can be used to punish the poor unfortunate creatures.

Koroks – and their seeds – are in again Tears of the Kingdom. There are literally hundreds of them scattered across Hyrule. And while many of them remain hidden, you can now discover some of them in the public eye. When you meet them, they have these ridiculously large adventure packs that are several times the size of their little bodies. The Koroks are tied up in the bag, so when Link finds them toppled over, they are helpless and unable to get up. They look like bugs turned on their backs. In other words, they are already an easy target.

Link has a new power called Ultrahand that allows him to essentially glue objects together and build larger structures or build machines. He cannot use these powers on living creatures, but he can use them on inanimate objects. Link can use the ability to attach the Koroks’ bags, and therefore the Koroks themselves, to a larger structure.

However, this is a sandbox game and fans are now using the freedom to bully the Koroks. One person used an extra-long stick along with some open flame to make a Korok spit.

Another player collected 10 missiles with the sole intention of tying them all together and blasting the Korok to Kingdom Come.

Some videos seem to take revenge on the number and tedious nature of Korok puzzles required to collect all the seeds, and the results are devastating. This video shows a person burning a Korok at the stake.

I don’t know what to think about it all. It seems a little cruel. Sure, collecting so many seeds is annoying, but it’s not the Korok’s fault. It all makes me think that Link could be the real supervillain after all.
