Tears of the Kingdom finally gives players a way to remember recipes

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be full of surprises, with plenty of sandbox play options. But I’ve been waiting with bated breath for an announcement about my favorite underrated Zelda activity: cooking. Thankfully, the game has a handful of cooking changes, most notably including recipe cards. On Friday, the official Zelda account ZeldaOfficialJP, shared a tweet with images called “Cooking Notes”.

According to Twitter’s translation feature (which I compared to a Google translation), the tweet says, “By the way, you can always look back at the dishes you’ve made in ‘Cooking Notes’.” If you want to make your favorite dish again, you can check the recipe and that’s handy.”

The image, which includes cooking notes written in English, shows off one for Meat and Seafood Fry. The top half of the card shows a picture of the prepared dish, accompanied by a short description. The bottom half of the card shows off an image of one meat and two fish – at the very bottom there are six hearts, which I assume represent the health restored from eating the dish. Cooking notes for steamed mushrooms and pepper steak are also included in the picture.

This will be one enormous improving the quality of life for amateur Zelda chefs everywhere. Cooking was one of my favorite parts of it Breath of the Wild – and yet it was often a process marked by pain. Breath of the Wild had no system for keeping track of successful recipes, and my awful memory couldn’t remember as many of my favorites. Fortunately – after hours of making inedible rubbish – I found my peace of mind by using manuals and keeping a handy notebook.

These recipe cards in Tears of the Kingdom hopefully that pain point is a thing of the past. Although, if That reports IGN Southeast Asia, players still have to manually hold and drop ingredients in – there’s no automatic selection to cook. Furthermore, we do not yet fully know how these recipe cards work. But it’s comforting to know there’s a formal, in-game method to remember culinary successes.
