Team USA star reveals why Steph Curry and Kevin Durant’s Olympic gold medal celebrations were cut short
After Team USA showcased their global dominance in men’s basketball earlier this month at the Olympic Games in Paris, superstars Kevin Durant and Steph Curry were missing from the locker room festivities.
A group of NBA stars traveled to the French capital and flawlessly climbed to the top step of the podium after defeating the host country 98-87 in the battle for the gold medal.
However, rising star Anthony Edwards admitted that he, along with Durant and Curry, were taken to the stadium for a drug test after he stepped off the podium during the national anthem.
“I’m not going to lie, he (Durant) and I both took a drug test,” Edwards told former player Jalen Rose on the Fanatic Fest podcast.
‘We couldn’t really celebrate the win in the locker room because he, me and Steph had to undergo a doping test or something.’

Just over a week later, the three stars appeared to have passed the tests, after delivering great performances during the Games.
Curry led Team USA in scoring, averaging 14.8 points per game. He played a deadly role in the semifinal against Serbia and the final against France.
Golden State’s poster boy hit nine three-pointers in a 36-point performance to lead the Americans in a semifinal comeback, then had 24 points and eight three-pointers against France in the gold medal game.
Durant averaged 13.8 points and was the team’s sixth-leading scorer until the Finals, in which he started and scored 15 points.
Edwards, meanwhile, provided a spark of enthusiasm off the bench, averaging 12.8 points per game.

“Steph was No. 4, I was No. 5, Bron (LeBron James) was No. 6 and Durant was No. 7,” the Timberwolves franchise player recalled. “When they introduced Steph, the crowd went crazy. When they mentioned me, they were like, ‘Ehhh.'”
“But then they introduced Bron and they went completely crazy, and then he (KD) introduced him and they went completely crazy again,” he continued.
“I think being in the middle of it was the best moment of my life. My brother took a picture of that image and I thought it was the coolest picture I could take.”
