Team USA soccer player Lynn Williams reveals she BROKE her gold medal partying

US soccer player Lynn Williams has revealed that she destroyed her Paris Olympic gold medal at a party.

Williams, a 31-year-old striker, had previously posted photos of her medal without the ribbon to which it should have been attached.

And in a new TikTokShe explained that she “got caught up in the celebrations” after the US women’s team defeated Brazil in the final.

Williams noted that at one point she was waving her medal — which she said “didn’t help” — but she said that wasn’t the reason the medal broke.

The Gotham FC star said she was dancing with her teammates with her medal on her shoulder “like a little bag” when it fell to the ground.

The medal was dented and the bar that previously attached the metal to the ribbon had broken off.

Williams said she has been in contact with the IOC and may be able to resolve the issue, but she still wanted to look at the quality of the medals.

“I just think they should have made these better,” she said. “They should have made them sturdier. And honestly, I can’t be criticized for that.”

Williams is not the only competitor at this year’s Olympics to complain about the quality of the medals.

Rugby player Ilona Maher told Late Night with Seth Meyers that her bronze medal was “starting to wear off a little bit.”

The criticism came after skater Nyjah Huston showed how he was doing with his bronze medal, just days after finishing third in the men’s street final.

“Okay, these Olympic medals look amazing when they’re brand new,” he said on Instagram.

“But after leaving it on my skin for a while and treating it with some sweat, and having my friends wear it over the weekend,” he continued.

“They’re apparently not as high quality as you might think. It looks rough.”

Team USA fencer Nick Itkin also revealed the gruesome state of his bronze medal, two weeks after winning it in Paris.
