An accident on the 3-meter springboard at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris unfortunately leaves American diver Alison Gibson tied with Animal House’s John Blutarsky.
Gibson scored a 0.0 during Wednesday’s game, equaling the infamous average grade of character John Belushi in the 1978 comedy.
The 25-year-old Texas native was in the correct position on Tuesday when her feet twisted in the board, sending her swaying onto the water’s surface.
Gibson attempted an inward dive with 2.5 somersaults before leaving the pool area in visible frustration, holding her hands over her face.
Fortunately for Gibson, she suffered no injuries and was able to continue competing, ranking 27th out of 28 after four dives on Wednesday.
