Police are still trying to access “phone downloads” between a high school teacher and the 15-year-old child she allegedly cared for, a court has heard.
Chelsea Jane Edwards, 28, a teacher at Indooroopilly State High School in Brisbane, was charged in March with two counts of grooming and one count of indecent treatment of a child under 16.
According to police, Edwards interacted with the child several times in court documents from July to September 2022, when the grooming allegedly began.
Ms Edwards allegedly “deliberately exposed” the child to an indecent photograph in September.

The documents further allege that she engaged in conduct with intent to “seduce” the child into sexual acts in Queensland between July 7 and September 14, 2022.
Ms Edwards did not appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday when her case was briefly discussed.
Ms Edwards’ lawyer, Alex Somers, told the court he was still waiting for full evidence to be handed over by police.
The Director of Public Prosecutions told the court that officers were still trying to access ‘phone downloads’ of Ms Edwards and the alleged victim ‘together’.
The court heard that the arresting officer also had to give a full statement, but was currently on leave.
Magistrate Mark Nolan ordered the downloads and full evidence to be released to the defense no later than June 26.
