Taylor Swift’s reaction to Matty Healy’s ‘gross’ behavior after Azealia Banks outburst

Taylor Swift was ‘disappointed’ by former Matty Healy’s aggressive online feud with Azealia Banks, say friends close to the star who said she was ‘shocked’ that he threatened assault.

The 35-year-old 1975 frontman had another fiery back-and-forth with the controversial rapper on Tuesday, during which he bragged that he wanted to “hit” Azealia after she made public comments about him and his fiancée Gabbriette Bechtel.

He tweeted: ‘Talk to me like that, I’m not gonna keep an eye on you at an awards show, I’ll hit you so hard I’ll get a Guinness world record for the tallest rat, some bitch shouts that a wig ever flew .’

His threat of physical violence towards the female hitmaker sparked outrage, with insiders claiming it helped ‘reaffirm’ for Taylor why their relationship was never more than a brief romance.

“There’s a reason why Taylor didn’t get deeply involved with him after her divorce from Joe Alwyn,” a source exclusively told DailyMail.com.

‘She has known Matty for a long time and worked with him professionally, but she is no longer in contact with him.

“In no way should a man ever threaten to harm a woman, or anyone for that matter.”

They continued, “He is clearly facing demons. Taylor also knows his family and everyone really hopes he gets the help he needs before it’s too late.”

A second source added: ‘Taylor is disappointed by Matty’s recent behavior and it has gone some way to confirming that moving on from him was the right decision.

“She was shocked that he threatened to attack Azealia.”

The drama started when Azealia criticized Charlie XCX, the pop superstar fiancée of Matty’s 1975 bandmate George Daniel.

‘Charli used to be so beautiful. Ugh,” she wrote.

Matty responded with the scathing response: “All the women you attack seem to be culturally relevant, attractive, divisive, and kind people. I think this makes you jealous because you are so talented, but everything else about you is a failure. Hurry up, bro.’

He then came to the defense of his own fiancée, ranting, “And at that point, if I EVER see a little twitter barista say ONE thing about my Gabi, I will take full advantage of my mental illness. and i will dox and fuck you. However, an unimpressed Azealia responded by insulting both Gabriette and Matty, as she furiously replied: ‘The b***h look[s] like Frankenstein to me. You both look like you’re sharing needles. Lmao.’

A furious Matty then made a hugely dramatic threat, tweeting: ‘Talk to me like that, I’m not going to side eye you at an awards ceremony, I’ll hit you so hard I’ll get a Guinness world record for the tallest a rat , a bitch, calls a wig, has ever flown.’

Realizing the inappropriate nature of his outburst, the singer quickly backtracked, writing, “No, I can’t say I’m going to hit a crazy girl. I’m sorry. You just can’t stay so mean to my friends and Mrs. It’s really hurtful, which puts me on the defensive.”

After Azealia threatened to sue Matty over his threat of physical violence, he later apologized on The 1975’s Reddit page, telling fans that he had “let himself down” and that he had acted “brazenly” felt because he had ‘acted violently’.

He wrote: ‘What a bad day, I really let myself down. I’ve worked so hard to get past these impulsive, self-destructive, and honestly quite volatile outbursts I have.

‘I constantly make trouble for myself for no reason, I come back to social media after depressive episodes (which is NOT an excuse) because I often get sober, so when I’m addicted I pick up social media when I’m not using it my new way of ‘consuming’ and changing how I feel.

‘I just feel terrible about my violent behavior. I think Azealia and all obviously flawed people have a heart deep down and I hate that I contributed to her mental fragility. She’s human.

“This cultural discourse in general has become so violent. I don’t want to pretend that I regret who I am or who I’ve been. But at this point I feel dirty even if I’ve ever said anything negative about something – if it contributed to this culture.”

Matty and Gabbriette have been linked since September 2023, when they were spotted packing on the PDA in New York City shortly after his highly publicized split from Taylor Swift in June of that year.

The couple announced their engagement in June 2024 after a whirlwind nine-month romance, with Gabbriette showing off her black diamond ring on Instagram.

Despite Taylor’s brief relationship with Matty, the musician became the surprising focus of a number of songs on her latest album The Tortured Poets Department, which was released in April.

It is widely believed that Taylor, who is in a relationship with Travis Kelce, targets him in songs including The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived and Fortnight (feat. Post Malone), prompting renewed fan scrutiny of the period in which they dated.

Weeks later, Matty seemingly made a sly attempt at writing songs about her past romances, calling it “so obvious to draw from” that he finds “not interesting.”

Subtly lashing out at artists who use their romances as inspiration, he added: “I think that’s an obvious thing to draw from and I’m just not interested in it. And I think maintaining the status quo is something I always like to fight against.
