Taylor Swift’s music was NOT played at Arrowhead Stadium last season out of respect to Travis Kelce’s relationship with the singer, reveals Kansas City Chiefs president

For all of Taylor Swift’s hustle and bustle at Arrowhead Stadium in 2023, the pop singer’s music was never really a part of it.

As Chiefs president Mark Donovan revealed at this week’s World Congress of Sports in Los Angeles, the team’s operations staff has made a conscious decision not to play Swift songs at home games this season.

“We haven’t played a single Taylor Swift song this season,” Donovan told the crowd Joe Favoritoa publicist, marketing consultant and professor.

As he explained, the decision had more to do with appeasing her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, than Swift herself.

“We made it clear to Travis that from Day 1 we would respect his relationship and ensure we would not create any intentional distractions,” Donovan said.

Although the team avoided intentional distractions, fans (particularly Swifties) made her a constant theme for much of the Chiefs’ final Super Bowl run.

Signs like ‘I’M HERE FOR TAYLOR SWIFT!’ and “IN MY FROZEN ERA” were featured this season in chilly Arrowhead, as the pop star enjoyed the warmer confines of the luxury suites.

Swift started dating Kelce after he said on his “New Heights” podcast that he tried and failed to get her a friendship bracelet during her performance at Arrowhead Stadium. Kelce then invited her to watch him perform at the Chiefs’ home, and surprisingly, she showed up for their Week 2 game against Chicago.

Swift quickly became a regular at games, both home and away, regularly sitting with Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Swift occasionally brought friends, including Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds.

“It’s very unique to have Taylor as a new Chiefs fan,” Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said during Super Bowl week.

‘I never do an interview without someone asking. I think a lot of players and coaches on the team are in the same boat.

“The most important thing is that we are happy for them both that they have found each other and have such a special relationship.”

Asked to explain the intense interest during Super Bowl week, Kelce responded, “I think the values ​​that we stand for and who we are as people – we like to shine light on others, let light shine on the people who help and support us, and besides, I think we both just love life.”
