Travis Kelce opened up about the night Taylor Swift’s Eras tour to Buenos Aires fell victim to thunder and lightning – and how the pop sensation was unhappy about the show’s postponement in Argentina.
The tight end spent a few nights in South America during the Chiefs’ bye week, where he caught a glimpse of his new girlfriend during her worldwide tour.
However, on Kelce’s first night in Argentina, Swift was forced to cancel the show just hours before she was scheduled to appear on stage.
“I went there hoping to see Taylor’s second show, but it was raining. There was thunder and lightning,” Kelce said on his New heights podcast.
‘She wasn’t too happy about it; she takes pride in performing despite the weather and rain and things like that. But if it’s unsafe for her, her crew and everyone in the stadium, you have to do what you have to do.”

Those who missed it were able to catch her show on Sunday, with local airlines even waiving extra charges for those who had to rebook flights.
“I think it turned out perfect in the end,” Kelce added. ‘It was a few hours ago. Let the expert come and tell you that it’s probably best that we just postpone it.’
That night, Kelce and Swift had a meal that gave the NFL star a chance to meet the singer’s father, Scott. But the couple made sure they weren’t seen around town after the disappointment of the postponement.
“The first night I was there, the only chance I had was really to eat,” he said.
‘It was the night the show was postponed, so we didn’t want to just blast around town – like we didn’t care about the show – so we made sure we stayed at the hotel and kept to ourselves. ‘
He added: “We had a nice meal, had some empanadas and steak… they have good steak there.”
During the meal, Kelce also took the opportunity to “get on Scott’s good side, honey.” The Swift family has made no secret of being Eagles fans, but Scott wore a Chiefs lanyard as he watched the re-arranged show next to the Kansas City tight end.

“Are you going to let your devilish good looks and relationship with your daughter distract you from a life of fandom, Scott?” Jason Kelce joked. ‘This is ridiculous.’
Jason said he hopes to get together to talk football with Swift Sr. But when the singer changed the lyrics of her song “Karma” to reference her new flame, Travis and Scott failed to get a high-five.
“Ah Mr. Swift, my apologies, big guy. I never miss a high-five, a big high-five man. It’s the most electric thing you can do at an event. “I’m so sorry, Mr. Swift,” he said.
“The stadium was incredible,” he continued. ‘It was north of 65,000, like 70,000 – three nights in a row. It’s crazy how many sold out shows she has and the venues she visits over and over again.
‘I was amazed. It was also an electric crowd. For anyone who went to those shows, Taylor said it was one of her favorite places to play… Taylor absolutely blew it. She killed it. It looked like she was having fun up there.”
