Taylor Swift’s whirlwind romance with Travis Kelce has gripped America — and Swifties around the world — for the past month.
And while it was widely believed that it was NFL star Kelce who sparked the romance after publicly revealing how he failed to get her his number at her hometown Eras show, it actually appears that she took the first step.
According to Yahoo EntertainmentSwift “gently reached out” to the Kansas City Chiefs player after telling his brother Jason that he had been unable to get his number on the pop star – which he had put on a friendship bracelet he made for her – and she thought the story was ‘cute’.
Kelce explained on New Heights in July: “I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs she sings, so I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get to give it her one of the bracelets I made for her.
“She’s not meeting anyone, or at least she didn’t want to meet me, so I took it personally.
Taylor Swift has reportedly taken the first step toward igniting her romance with NFL star Travis Kelce
Swift has been to four Chiefs games in the past month to cheer on Kelce when he plays
Kelce had revealed on his podcast how he failed to give his number to Swift after an Eras show
“I’ve only seen Arrowhead so filled for Chiefs games with so much excitement, and everyone was dressed in pink and purple and going crazy for hair. It was wild. It was a wild show.”
The publication says Swift reached out after hearing the story and it led to their first date in New York, where they have been seen numerous times since.
Swift then returned to Arrowhead Stadium on September 24 to cheer on Kelce and the Chiefs against the Chicago Bears – confirming their ties after speculation began to intensify.
She has been to four of his games in total, three in Kansas City and one in New York, when the Chiefs beat the Jets on Oct. 1.
But for now, Swift’s football era is on hold and she’s turning her attention back to touring.
She will miss Sunday’s game in Denver against the Broncos to focus on her upcoming games in Argentina and Brazil, starting in Buenos Aires on Nov. 9.
