DailyMail.com spotted the pop star boarding her private jet under the cover of umbrellas on Tuesday morning – on Travis' day off – after spending the previous week with her boyfriend.
While Swift's sudden flight home seems to have come out of the blue, the star has been nominated for TIME Magazine's Person of the Year — and the winner will be announced Wednesday morning.
Some fans speculated that the multiple Grammy Award winner had to be in New York filming for the Today Show, which announced the finalists on Monday.
Swift, who hasn't been to her luxury penthouse apartment since ending her Eras Tour, is battling the likes of Barbie, Vladimir Putin and King Charles III.
She flew straight from Sao Paolo to Kansas City to be with Travis, before flying to London and back within 24 hours to appear at the premiere of Beyonce's Renaissance film.

The couple is expected to spend the next few weeks in the Midwest while Taylor is on a two-month break from her international Eras Tour.
It's unclear if Swift will return to Kansas City before her 34th birthday on Dec. 13, or if the Chiefs tight end will join her in New York for celebrations.
Travis was seen leaving his home around 11:30 a.m. Monday morning in his Rolls Royce, where he stopped by the drive-thru at McLain's market to order a breakfast sandwich and a cold drink.
He then drove to the Chiefs training center before returning home at 4pm. This Sunday the Chiefs will play the Buffalo Bills in KC.

On Saturday he flew to Green Bay with his teammates.
A day later, his girlfriend made the hour-and-a-half flight to snowy Wisconsin, where she watched the Chiefs lose to the Green Bay Packers.
Taylor returned to Kansas City around 1 a.m. Monday, where she was reunited with Travis.
Taylor had left her tour and landed in Kansas City last week and the star headed straight to her love's new luxury abode.
A source told DailyMail.com at the time: 'Taylor is still in love with Travis. But she realizes that the hard work in their relationship is about to begin as they will spend weeks at a time together.
“So far it's been time consuming because they both had such busy schedules.”
They did everything they could in those moments: she saw him play in the NFL five times, he flew 5,000 miles to Buenos Aires, Argentina to see her in concert, and they appeared together on Saturday Night Live.
“Those are clearly not the things a new couple would do in their first months together,” the source said.

“They finally have the time and opportunity to spend some real quality time together.”
