Taylor Swift sings breakup song You’re Losing Me – which fans think is about ex Joe Alwyn – for the first time ever during second Melbourne show

Taylor Swift debuted a song from her Grammy-winning album Midnights during her show in Melbourne, Australia on Friday evening.

The 34-year-old singer – who just announced a bonus track for her upcoming album – gave her first performance of You’re Losing Me – an emotional ballad from the Late Night Edition of Midnights.

Swift sat at the piano, wearing a flowing yellow dress, as she announced to the audience, “I’ve never played this song live before.” It’s one of my favorites.’

The song was released in May 2023 and features a narrator singing about realizing a relationship is unhealthy and their attempts to save it, which many fans believe was inspired by the end of Swift’s relationship with English actor Joe Alwyn .

The pop star also released the title track from Red, which she hadn’t performed since last year.

Although fans have speculated that Joe Alwyn may have inspired the song, You’re Losing Me Taylor wrote the tune a year before their relationship ended.

In November, her friend and collaborator Jack Antonoff took to Instagram to give fans insight into the record, which was only available in physical form before it began streaming last fall.

‘You’re Losing Me’ is released today. A very special song from the Midnights sessions that can finally be streamed!’ he wrote at the time.

He shared a snapshot of the singer in her kitchen, with wine and raisins nearby.

“Wrote and recorded at home on 12/5/21, right after Taylor ate those raisins,” he added.

While in Australia, Taylor also announced an alternate deluxe edition of her upcoming album The Tortured Poets Department.

The Bolter features different album art and another exclusive song: a previously unannounced song called The Bolter.

Swift shared the new information during her show and later on social media, uploading two new close-up photos, including one of her lying in bed.

The deluxe collector’s edition copies are available for purchase on its website for a limited time.

The star encouraged fans to pre-order the new music as she shared two links to her Instagram Stories ahead of the weekend.

One link said “File name: The Bolter” and the other simply said “pre-order now.”

In addition, the Bolter variant includes several bonus products with unique branding.

It consists of a patch, bookmark and photo cards with excerpts from the song’s lyrics.
