Taylor Swift reveals why she kept adding dates to her record-breaking Eras Tour ahead of final show

Taylor Swift opened up about her decision to continue extending her record-breaking Eras Tour ahead of the final show as she took the stage at BC Place in Vancouver, Canada, on Saturday.

A day before preparing to wrap up her tour after 21 months and 149 shows, the 34-year-old pop star took a moment to thank her beloved fans for making this such an “amazing experience.”

“This is the most fun, joyful, exciting, intense, powerful and wonderful tour I’ve ever done, and it’s all because of the way you handle it,” she told the sold-out crowd.

The 14-time continued: “There’s a reason why this is my longest tour I’ve ever done. I’ve never played so many shows on a tour before, and that’s just because I really never wanted it to end, because you guys made it such an amazing experience for all of us on stage.”

The Fortnight hitmaker praised Swifties for creating their own unique ‘traditions’, including making and trading friendship bracelets with each other.

“I wrote a line in a song that says ‘make the friendship bracelets,’ and I come to the first show of the Eras Tour, and you guys made friendship bracelets, you trade friendship bracelets, you make friends, and now I’m like, friendship bracelets , you’ve kind of made that idea synonymous with the Eras Tour,” she said. “That’s a pretty wild thing you can do — and that’s just one of the things.”

Earlier in the show, she also reflected on how much the tour has meant to her.

“This tour has taken three years of my life, if you think about the planning of it and then the rehearsals and then being on this tour for a year and eight months,” the artist shared. “When I look at this crowd, I keep thinking about how incredibly happy, grateful and fortunate we are to spend our last weekend here in Vancouver.”

A source said this earlier this week We weekly that the artist plans to take an extended break so she can focus on relaxing and spending time with her boyfriend Travis Kelce.

“She told her team to give her a year,” the insider revealed.

Another source said of Taylor’s plans for the coming months: “Taylor plans to stay here for a while and hibernate. She [Taylor and Travis] want to do ‘normal things’ as a couple…

“Taylor is exhausted. She’s looking forward to some relaxation and rest.’

The first source added that the singer plans to enjoy a quiet Christmas with family.

Adding that the superstar won’t start thinking about recording a new album until 2025.

The insider noted that she does want to tour again, but that won’t be for a while and probably on a smaller scale than The Eras Tour.

By the time the trek ends in Vancouver, the “Anti-Hero” singer will have played 149 shows on five continents.

Taylor played six dates in Toronto before Thanksgiving and the singer admitted she’s getting emotional as the tour comes to a close.

In a post on Instagram, she wrote: “Our six shows in Toronto were so incredible. It was great to play in Canada after so much time. As always, the fans in Toronto treated us like it was a home show.

Adding, “I couldn’t have asked for more love or generosity from the people who came out.”

‘Goodbye, Vancouver. We can’t wait to give you everything we have for three more shows,” she concluded.

Travis, who grew up in Ohio, and Taylor’s rumored romance was confirmed on Sunday, September 24, 2023 – after she attended her first Chiefs game – when they took on the Chicago Bears.

It’s not clear exactly when the two started seeing each other in person, but Travis had revealed on his July 26 New Heights podcast episode that he had hoped to introduce himself to Taylor when he attended one of her Eras Tour stops.

Earlier this week, a source told Us Weekly that the artist is planning to take an extended break so she can focus on relaxing and spending time with her boyfriend Travis Kelce (seen in February 2024)

He attended night two of her Eras tour stop in Kansas City — July 8 — while in a suite.

‘I was disappointed that she didn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs she sings, so I was a bit of a pain in the ass. I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets. I made it for her,” he said.

In mid-October 2023, they took their romance to the next level by posing for loved-up snaps on Instagram.

The romance between Taylor and Travis has gone from strength to strength.
