Taylor Swift reveals her album Folklore was inspired by Ireland as she tells fans the record ‘belongs to them’ at her second Eras Tour show in Dublin

Taylor Swift has confirmed her lockdown album Folklore was inspired by the ‘storytelling’ of Ireland.

The 34-year-old singer took to the stage for her second Eras Tour show in Dublin on Saturday and drove her fans wild by declaring the record ‘belongs to them’.

Taylor released her eighth album in July 2020 and during her latest concern, she told the audience that she only started writing songs for Folklore two days after the COVID lockdown began.

‘Folklore’ in general is something that’s just part of Ireland, she said, adding: How I imagined the album world [was like] Ireland. Telling stories with many different characters. You have that under control too. That’s very Irish, that storytelling.’

“I had to make an album where the imaginary world that I went to every day while I was writing it… I have to be honest, it was a bit like Ireland.”

The moment, which was cheered by her Irish fans in the stadium, was captured by a spectator present at the Aviva Stadium who posted the moment on X.

Taylor also showed her love for the Emerald Isle by donning not one but two green ensembles for different eras on the show.

Her first tribute was a forest green cape dress adorned with leaves and a cutout at her stomach – which she donned for Folklore.

Later in the show, for her 1989 era, Taylor once again donned the country’s colors, wearing a bejeweled orange bralet and an ombre green skirt.

The surprise seems to have delighted fans, especially her Irish followers.

Taylor’s fans commented on X, formerly Twitter: ‘The green folklore dress is so Irish of her!!’; ‘Supreme green dress’;

‘Green folklore outfit for Ireland beats Taylor’ and ‘Folklore is so quintessentially Irish’.
