Former Texans quarterback David Carr left an NFL panel shocked with a bizarre joke about Taylor Swift “reconsidering the tight end she picked” ahead of this weekend’s Super Bowl.
Swift’s friend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, is gearing up for his second Super Bowl appearance in as many years in Las Vegas, where his team clashes with the San Francisco 49ers.
While Kelce already has a legacy as one of the greatest tight ends of all time, opposite number Kittle is having a fantastic season thus far, racking up 1,128 receiving yards and 71 receptions while scoring seven touchdowns.
And when asked who he thinks will steal the show at Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, Carr chose Kittle before making his joke about Swift.
“I’m glad Taylor Swift is out of the country,” he said. “Because if she sees George Kittle, she might reconsider the tight end she chose.”

Swift has been dating Kelce for almost six months, with their romance dominating headlines
But ahead of last Sunday’s Super Bowl, Carr joked that the pop star “might reconsider the tight end she chose” if she saw Kittle.

Carr’s joke was poorly received by the NFL Total Access panel, who gasped loudly before highlighting that Kittle is already married.
“He married his college sweetheart,” host Kimmi Chex said. ‘Come on!’
The ex-NFL star quickly realized his mistake and admitted, “My bad, my bad.”
Kittle has been married to wife Claire since 2019, whom he met as a freshman at Iowa University after getting engaged the year before.
Kelce, meanwhile, is still in the early stages of his relationship with Swift after striking up a very high-profile romance last summer.
Swift is currently in Japan for the final leg of her Eras Tour, but is expected to make the 5,000-mile journey across the world to watch her husband compete in the Super Bowl this weekend.
The singer and songwriter finishes her final show in Tokyo on February 10 and faces a frantic rush to return to the US for the competition on February 11.
But in addition to the lack of time, she may also have trouble finding a place to leave her plane for the weekend in Las Vegas.

But the Chiefs star refused to confirm whether or not she will have a spot on her private jet
DailyMail.com reported last week that Sin City had completely sold out private jet parking spaces for Super Bowl weekend, leaving many of the rich and famous looking for alternatives.
Michael Giordano, a partner at Cirrus Aviation Services in Las Vegas, told The New York Post that the NFL Swift will provide space to land, although parking spaces are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
“Taylor Swift will definitely have a place to land in the NFL, but not necessarily a place to park,” Giordano said.
However, Kelce declined to definitively say whether Swift had definitively gotten one.
Asked on Monday night, Kelce replied, “I’ll have to ask.”
