Taylor Swift fights back tears as she’s overwhelmed by fans’ cheers at her final Liverpool show… after ex Joe Alwyn broke his silence on their split

Taylor Swift fought back tears after being overwhelmed by the cheers from fans at her final show in Liverpool on Saturday, after her six-year-old ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn finally broke his silence on their split.

The American pop superstar, 34, also performed at the 60,000-capacity Anfield stadium on Thursday and Friday.

As she sang Champagne Problems to a sold-out crowd, Taylor looked visibly emotional, overwhelmed by her audience’s reaction.

She took off her earpiece so she could fully appreciate the moment before shouting, “I love you so much, Liverpool, thank you!”

Taylor, who marked her 100th performance of the tour this week, also delighted fans with a new edition of Surprise Songs, in which she chooses songs to sing acoustically.

Joe first opened up about the split fourteen months later in an interview published on Saturday

Joe said: ‘As everyone knows, we decided together – both of us, mutually – to keep the more private details of our relationship private. It was never something to commercialize and I see no reason to change that now (pictured with Taylor in 2020)

She played a mash-up of Carolina and No Body No Crime and also a mash-up of The Manuscript and Red.

Taylor will continue the Eras Tour in Cardiff on Tuesday before performing in London from June 21 to 23.

It comes after English actor Joe, 33, finally opened up about their split, 14 months after it was revealed.

He told The Sunday Times style. “As everyone knows, we have decided together – both of us mutually – to keep the more private details of our relationship private.

“It was never something to commercialize and I see no reason to change that now.”

Joe continued, “And look, this has also been a little over a year now and I feel fortunate to be in a great place in my life, both professionally and personally. I feel really good.’

When asked if he had listened to Taylor’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, Joe said, “When I think about what I was going to say, I would think and hope that everyone can relate.

“This isn’t a direct answer to your question, but I’m just thinking about what I want to talk about.”

Her only comments come through song, with several songs on The Tortured Poets Department believed to be about Joe.

In one song, LOML, Taylor heartbreakingly sings, “I wish we could remember how we had almost everything….”

On Friday was Taylor’s Surprise Song This Is What You Came For, performed by Rihanna but co-written by her and her ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris.

Taylor introduced the song: “Every time I have an acoustic set, I always try to think of things that you might want to hear – maybe things that might be a little bit unexpected.

“Let’s see how we did tonight.”

She performed the song as a mashup with her song “Gold Rush” from her 2020 album Evermore.
