Taylor Swift fans SLAM Rihanna’s boyfriend A$AP Rocky for referencing singer on controversial new song

A$AP Rocky will release a new song on Thursday called “Tailor Swif,” an apparent play on the Cruel Summer singer’s name. The Swifties aren’t exactly thrilled about it.

The 35-year-old Good For You rapper, who recently insisted that his sons RZA and Riot will have normal childhoods, also posted controversial artwork on social media on Thursday to coincide with the single’s announcement.

However, the Swifties immediately took to X to express their disappointment that Rihanna’s boyfriend was “abusing her name to gain influence.”

“Male rappers’ obsession with Taylor needs to be examined,” one fan wrote, seemingly referring to Taylor’s feud with Kanye West, which began in 2009.

Another typed, “Why does every guy want to fight with Taylor Swift? It’s weird,” followed by a crying emoji.

“We trying to get Taylor’s influence,” one user wrote on social media, while another wrote, “Imagine how tired we are.”

A Taylor Swift fan added: “They desperately want a hit so they need to get the industry involved somehow.”

“Man we don’t need this,” wrote another, while a user typed on X, “who wants to show the industry who lives up to their name.”

Another Swiftie also wrote: ‘men won’t stop using her name for influence’ and ‘can these men leave her alone…’

Tailor Swif appears to be a single from A$AP Rocky’s upcoming fourth studio album, titled Don’t Be Dumb.

The LP was originally set to be released on Friday, August 30, but due to “leaks” and “sample clearances,” the artist pushed the release back to fall 2024.

A$AP Rocky – whose real name is Rakim Athelaston Mayers – sang about the Bad Blood singer in Miami last year during the Rolling Loud festival.

The rapper performed three previously unreleased songs cut from Don’t Be Dumb, including a song titled Wetty (Taylor Swift).

Swift’s name has appeared in other songs in the past, including in songs by rapper Kanye West, who also goes by Ye.

The feud between the two began in 2009 when the Heartless hitmaker interrupted Taylor’s speech at the MTV Video Music Awards.

After that, the two put the past behind them and became friends, until he released the song Famous in 2016, which rekindled the rift.

The lyrics included: “I feel like Taylor and I still have sex/Why? I made that b***h famous (Godd***)/I made that b***h famous.”

The singer said she didn’t know the lyrics to the song before it came out, while her ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, told her GQ that Swift ‘approved’ of it.

“She totally knew that was going to come out. She wanted to pretend like she didn’t all of a sudden. I swear, my husband gets so much s*** for things [when] He really followed the proper protocol and even called to get approval.’

A source later said People, ‘Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric: “I made that b***h famous.”‘

West recently mentioned Swift again on the song Lifestyle (Demo), from the Vultures 2 album with Ty Dolla $ign. Her NFL boyfriend, Travis Kelce, was also mentioned.

“I turn my Taylor spliffs tight on the end, like Travis Kelce,” Kanye could be heard rapping in the lyrics.

Last year, Drake also mentioned Swift’s name in the song Red Button, which is on the album For All The Dogs.

The lyrics read: ‘Taylor Swift is the only n**** I ever judged/ Only one person could make me put the album out a little later/ The rest of y’all I treat like you never made it.’

A$AP Rocky’s album Don’t Be Dumb was set to be released on August 30, but earlier this month he explained in an interview with X why the release had been delayed.

He wrote to his fans: ‘Leaks & sample clearances are ruining the album. It’s been 6 years and I want to make the best album ever. Sorry for the wait.’

During a recent interview with Billboardthe rapper spoke openly about leaks in the music industry and his own music.

‘I’ve been working on music for six years now, but they leak my music and I’m over it and I’m like, “F*** it.”‘

“They leak a lot of music and it ruins it. Like my Taylor Swift video. I was pissed off about it so I never released it.”

Rocky collaborated with other rappers and producers for the album, such as Tyler, The Creator, Metro Boomin, Pharrell Williams and also Mike Dean.

He explained that he had asked director Tim Burton to help with the cover, but that scheduling issues meant the duo didn’t have enough time to work together.

However, the star revealed that the filmmaker has listened to Don’t Be Dumb.

“I sat down and played the album for Tim Burton, and he was totally messing around with it,” he said, adding that Burton “was bobbing his head and going, ‘Wow! I didn’t know you made that kind of music!’”

Composer Danny Elfman, who is known for the music he wrote for several Tim Burton films, provided musical fragments that can be heard in the songs on the album.
