It comes after Taylor’s recent shock split from Matt Healey was reportedly not due to the frontman’s recent controversial podcast comments from 1975.

The singer and rocker, 34, shocked the world when their romance was revealed in May amid speculation they had been dating for weeks, but a friend close to the star confirmed Taylor was ‘single’ again on Monday used to be.

And while fans have been guessing at the reason for their split, it has since been argued that it wasn’t due to Matty’s shocking comments about Taylor’s recent collaborator Ice Spice, 23.

Amid the couple’s short-lived romance, a podcast surfaced in which Matty allegedly made derogatory comments about the American rapper – prompting Taylor’s fans to urge her to dump him.

But a source close to The 1975 insisted TMZ that this was not the case, noting that Taylor – who released a remix of Karma featuring the rapper in May – “was aware” of his comments about Ice Spice before she started dating him.

And while the hitmaker’s loyal followers put pressure on them at the time, the friend said Matty and Taylor “got used to the sound and just blocked it out.”

TMZ went on to suggest that while the podcast wasn’t the root cause of their breakup, the breakup had more to do with the former couple simply “not having time for each other.”

With Taylor touring the world on her sold-out Eras tour and Matty’s band currently in the middle of its European tour, the publication states that the pair “still care about each other,” even though “things didn’t go well” in a romantic sense.

Last month, fans had been urging Swift to dump Healy after his controversial podcast comments from earlier this year resurfaced.

Healy was accused of racism for comments about the rapper Ice Spice – real name Isis Naija Gaston – during a performance on The Adam Friedland Show podcast in February.

Healy claimed he tried to message the rapper on Instagram, but Healy along with Friedland and Mullen seemed to confuse her heritage by referring to her as Inuit and Chinese, imitating and mocking the accents of each.

The podcast episode was later pulled from both Spotify and Apple Music due to its offensive content.

Healy apologized for the comments about Ice Spice during a 1975 concert in New Zealand.
