Taylor Swift congratulated a newly engaged couple in a touching moment during her live performance in Edinburgh after kicking off the UK leg of her Eras tour on Friday.
As he took to the stage at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium, the pop icon, 34, said with a smile: ‘I love doing this whole show in the sunlight because I’m pretty sure I’ve just seen someone get engaged here .’
The singer waited for confirmation from the crowd, who shouted a positive response, and Taylor was captured grinning happily from ear to ear and throwing her fists in the air as she was visibly emotional.
The Wildest Dreams hitmaker seemed thrilled to witness the romantic scene, saying: ‘You have no idea. I never get to see that. Because it’s like… it’s usually dark at night.
“But that’s not the case now, so congratulations, wow.”

Speaking on stage at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium, the pop icon, 34, said with a smile: “I love doing this whole show in the sunlight because I’m pretty sure I’ve just seen someone get engaged here.”
Taylor seemed surprised by the emotional gesture that happened right under her nose and continued, “I just saw the whole thing!” That is amazing.
‘Thank you for doing that at my concert. That’s a big moment. Enormous.’
The music star kicked off the UK leg of her highly anticipated Eras tour in triumphant style on Friday evening with the first of three shows in Edinburgh.
Performing a catalog of hits from her latest album The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD), Taylor sent the crowd into a frenzy.
She also played some fan favorite hits to the delight of the packed crowd in the Scottish capital.
Perhaps the biggest highlight of all came from the two songs in her secret “surprise” slot – a period during concerts that the singer dedicates to two “mystery” songs that she changes with each performance.
Before the concert, Swifties reacted cheerfully when the singer landed in Edinburgh on Friday afternoon.
The US megastar arrived around lunchtime and was draped in umbrellas before being whisked away in a darkened car with a police escort.
The attempt to stay out of sight is reminiscent of a similar trick Taylor pulled when she arrived at Los Angeles airport in February before supporting her boyfriend Travis Kelce at the Super Bowl.
A fan told MailOnline that Taylor is reportedly staying at the popular Balmoral Hotel and has apparently booked out two entire floors after offering an entire wedding party £10,000 to move out, they claimed.
While Taylor had no problem finding somewhere to stay, her fans had a more difficult task finding accommodation in Edinburgh as hotels quickly booked up despite their rates tripling during the megastar’s three-night residency.
Incredibly, some locals came to the rescue, with one man listing his property on Airbnb for £585 a night.
