The once bright future of our prom king and queen, the football star and head cheerleader, has almost certainly been undermined by a very public outburst of rage, drunkenness and a spectacularly insensitive decision to party hard after a mass shooting in his Super Bowling Parade.
Just hours after 22 fans were shot – nine children, including a young mother dead – Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce thought it would be a great idea to go to ‘Granfalloon Restaurant and Bar’ and take selfies with police while they had an open beer bottle with them. on the street, having previously gone to the parade stage and looking far too drunk to say anything.
‘Caveman’ and ‘douchebag’ were two descriptors used by outraged fans on social media.

As we well know, Team Taylor will not let anyone or anything tarnish its diligently crafted image.
Bodies are scattered throughout her texts, ex-boyfriends are accused of terrible behavior, her canon is based on broken romances, victimhood and reclaiming her ‘power’.
This storyline made her a billionaire. Who thinks Swift is going to jeopardize her image for some dirty football player she has elevated to world fame?
The first red flag surfaced during Sunday’s Super Bowl itself, when Kelce shoved his 65-year-old coach, Andy Reid, and voiced his outrage in front of 125 million viewers – anger all over his red face.
Tom Brady would never do that.
What kind of message does this send to Swift’s impressionable, predominantly female fan base? That this kind of abuse is okay?
And if Kelce acts like this in public, what is he doing behind locker room doors?
Count me among those who don’t believe Reid’s excuses for this terrible treatment.
‘I love that intensity!’ Reid told NBC Sports after the game. ‘It shines’.
No doubt Kelce’s sweat and saliva were radiating as well.
And remember: this is not an isolated incident.
“He had a temper,” Reid said of Kelce in an interview before the Super Bowl. “So on the field he went out and did some crazy things. He was a challenge early on… But he has matured before our eyes.”
Does he have?
Clearly, bumping into other men the size of brick houses isn’t a sufficient outlet.

Combine that with Kelce’s embarrassing performance after Sunday’s win, singing “Viva Las Vegas” and “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party)” without self-consciousness as quarterback Patrick Mahomes holds his toddler daughter right behind him.
Mahomes gets the memo. He understands the assignment. He wasn’t partying after Wednesday’s horrific mass shooting.
In fact, he released a statement within minutes, writing that he was “praying for Kansas City.”
Kelce, 34 years old and Mahomes 28, took hours to do the same. And most notably, his post was expanded some time after he first arrived at that sports bar.
Do we think Kelce was sober enough to write that message himself?
These are catastrophes of his own making.
It’s not a matter of as Tay-Tay and Travis break up, but when.
This was always as much a brand merger as a romance. Who could forget the way Swift described their love story in a rare interview she gave to Time Magazine, which named her ‘Person of the Year’ last December – not least because of her wholesome, spotless image?
“We actually had a significant amount of time (together) that no one knew about,” she said of their origin story. “I think some people think they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to initiate a first date.’
Difficult launch! Let’s look at the Cambridge dictionary for a proper definition: ‘An occasion when a new product or service is made available to the public, and not just to a limited number of people, in a way that is intended to attract a lot of attention to pull’.
Mission accomplished.
Taylor and Travis is (was?) a marketing scheme, and it has served its purpose well. Taylor has found a man who wants to be as famous as she is – see the recent Wall Street Journal cover story, written by Prince Harry’s ghostwriter, in which the footballer talks about using The Rock as his template – and Travis hit quickly reaching the celebrity stratosphere.
I hope he enjoyed the ride, because he’s about to crash land on Earth. A hard launch down, if you will.

Kelce would have done well to take cues from his girlfriend. As he told WSJ, “Being with her and seeing how smart Taylor is was fucking mind-blowing. I learn from her every day.’
He hasn’t learned enough, it seems. Consider Swift’s course correction just moments after her alleged Grammy snub against Celine Dion — a beloved icon who awarded Swift Album of the Year despite her struggle with a rare, terminal illness.
Swift didn’t even look Dion in the eye when she picked up that trophy and proceeded to praise everyone on stage except Dion. It was unfriendly at best.
But Swift was sure he would immediately get a photo backstage with the legend, putting the ensuing controversy to bed. For the most part.
No harm, no foul, Taylor is still a class act. At least in public.
Kelce has a playbook, but so does Swift.
When her fans expressed outrage over her relationship with singer Matty Healy, who was accused by rapper Ice Spice of making racist comments, Swift not only dumped him – quickly – but arranged for him to befriend Ice Spice, who plays alongside Swift ended up in her Super Bowl box .

When their romance first broke out, Kelce said he knew he had to be on his best behavior.
“That was the most important thing to me,” he told WSJ. “Make sure I don’t say anything that will push Taylor away.”
Four violations in as many days. Taylor Swift doesn’t do losers.
