Taylor Swift shared her thoughts on the engagement rumors surrounding her and boyfriend of six years Joe Alwyn, on her newly released 10th studio album Midnights.
The 32-year-old singer opened the album with a song entitled ‘Lavender Haze’ and sang: ‘All they keep asking me/Is if I’m going to be your bride/The only child they see/Is a one night or a woman. ‘
She then seemed to hit back at the outdated question: “I give a damn what people say / The fifties they want from me.”

Swift recently shared that she picked up the name for the song about her beauty, 31, from the TV series Mad Men – which is set in the 1960s.
“I looked it up because I thought it sounded cool. And it turns out it’s a common phrase used in the ’50s where they would just describe being in love,” she shared on her TikTok series, Midnights, Mayhem & Me.
When the pop singer revealed that her relationship was the inspiration behind the song, “We’ve had to dodge weird rumors and gossip and we’re just ignoring it. And so this song is kind of about ignoring that stuff to protect the real stuff.”

Taylor, who has been in a relationship with Joe since 2016, has also described their love on a song called Sweet Nothing, even enlisting his help as a co-writer.
In Sweet Nothing’s Taylor sings, “I found myself running home to your sweet nothings, I’ll catch their push, pull. You’re in the kitchen humming, all you ever wanted from me was nothing sweet.’
Taylor implies that while everyone wants something from her, Joe is the only person who has remained sincere and sincere.
She also seems to refer to her love on Snow on the Beach – which stars Lana Del Rey – crooning: ‘Now I’m all for you like Janet/Can this be a real thing/Can it?’ in reference to Janet Jackson’s hit song, All for You.

The album’s final track on Midnights, titled Mastermind, revealed that she was the one who masterminded the romance – a fact her other half seems to appreciate.
“So I told you it wasn’t all by accident and the first night you saw me nothing would stop me / I laid the foundation and then saw a big grin on your face / You knew it all along.”
This isn’t the first time Taylor has enlisted Joe’s help, as he previously played under his pseudonym William Bowery on her previous albums Folklore and Evermore.
In early July, it was revealed that Taylor had been engaged to her boyfriend for “a few months.”

The Sun claimed that the singer wore an engagement ring “behind closed doors” and that the couple only informed their close friends of the news.
“Taylor and Joe are incredibly happy and very, very much in love,” a source who claimed to be close to Joe told the outlet in early July.
“They’ve actually been engaged for a few months, but have only told their inner circle – basically immediate family and trusted, very old friends.
“Everyone is also bound to secrecy.”
The insider claimed that Joe gave Taylor a “nice ring,” but “she only wears it when she’s home,” so behind closed doors.

In addition to striking visuals, the clip featured the instrumentals of the lead single Anti-Hero. The Anti-Hero music video will be released Friday at 8 p.m. ET via Swift’s YouTube channel.
