Taylor Swift could sway 2024 election outcome, new poll finds with a FIFTH of voters ‘likely’ to back candidate endorsed by singer

Taylor Swift could have a major impact on how Americans vote in the presidential election, with a fifth of voters saying they are “likely” to back a candidate she backs.

The pop star’s stratospheric influence on popular culture could influence the race for the White House, especially as new Gen Z voters join the electorate this year.

From a poll conducted by Redfield & Wilton Strategies for Newsweek, 18 percent of voters say they are “more likely” or “significantly more likely” to vote for a candidate endorsed by Taylor Swift.

Her influence was more visible among voters under 35.

This election will bring eight million new voters to the American electorate – and a total of 41 million Gen Z voters, many of whom are influenced by celebrities and social media.

However, 17 percent said they would be less likely to vote for a candidate supported by Swift — which could bode poorly for Democrat Joe Biden.

Although she has never publicly said who she is voting for, Swift promised in 2020 to kick Trump out of the White House with her vote.

A total of 55 percent said they were neutral and would not be influenced in any way.

The data comes from a sample size of 1,500 people, of which 45 percent said they liked Taylor, while 54 percent said they were not fans.

Six percent said they had never heard of the Shake It Off billionaire singer.

Her popularity has reached new heights in the past twelve months. She was named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year in 2023, led the hugely successful Eras tour that grossed over a billion dollars, and thrived in her relationship with Travis Kelce.

Communications consultant James Haggerty said: ‘She has influenced popular culture, sports and the economy of entire regions of the US’

‘Swift is alone in class. She’s so talented and so popular and so ingrained in pop culture. No one is close to her.

“The power of celebrities in elections has grown because the power of celebrities themselves has grown. And in a world flooded with messages, it’s the voices of celebrities that really resonate.

“In a world where a reality star can become president — and maybe president twice — this all makes perfect sense.”

Taylor Swift, who often keeps her politics to herself, has previously criticized Republican Donald Trump – and vowed to ‘vote him out of the White House’.

She accused then-President Trump of “fanning the flames of white supremacy and racism” throughout his 2020 presidency.

The Shake It Off singer condemned Trump on social media for his comments on the violence that broke out following the police-related shooting of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

“After fanning the flames of white supremacy and racism throughout your presidency, you have the audacity to feign moral superiority before threatening violence?

‘When the looting starts, the shooting starts’??? We will vote you out in November. @realdonaldtrump,” Swift wrote in the tweet.

In recent months, Trump has also hit back at the pop star.

Trump has discussed Taylor and Kansas City Chiefs running back Travis Kelce’s romance and made his own predictions about the tryst.

The Republican frontrunner candidate congratulated the couple, but quickly predicted they might not last.

‘I wish the best for both of them. I hope they enjoy their lives, maybe together, maybe not – most likely not,” Trump said in a candid response during an interview with the Daily Caller.

It came after the Washington Post published an op-ed saying: ‘If anyone should be worried about Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce, it’s Trump.

“These two have a huge and dedicated fan base. “Just because Swift attended that one Chiefs game, Kelce’s merchandise sales increased 400 percent,” wrote columnist Rick Reilly.

In an Instagram story, Swift urged her fans to exercise their democratic right to register and vote.

Her followers seemed to heed her advice, with the number of users logging into Vote.org skyrocketing 1,226 percent over the course of an hour, Reilly noted.

Reilly asked the question, “What if they decided something fun for couples would be to… I don’t know… save democracy?”

The op-ed suggests that with their diverse fan base, many of whom could be potential Trump voters, the former US president should pay more attention to their relationship.
