Taylor Swift has made a number of donations to local food banks in the cities she’ll be visiting on her highly anticipated The Eras Tour.

Swift wept as she paid tribute to her late grandmother as she kicked off her Eras tour with back-to-back shows Friday and Saturday in Glendale, Arizona.

When the Pennsylvania-born songwriter put out the new music, she explained that Marjorie was written with her grandmother in mind, not that she “still visits me sometimes…if only in my dreams.”

The sentimental lyrics recount the timeless advice passed down by Finlay, who passed away in 2003, by including the line: “Never be so nice that you forget to be smart and never be so smart that you forget to be nice.”

Swift also detailed Marjorie’s career as an opera singer with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra.
