Taylor Swift breaks her own streaming record with re-recorded 1989 release… as she prepares to resume Eras tour

The only person, it seems, who can break a Taylor Swift record seems to be Taylor Swift.

The newly minted billionaire, 33, broke her own Spotify record for the most streamed artist in a single day, according to a post from the streaming service on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The hitmaker released her re-encoded album 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on Friday.

Not only has she played the LP more times than any other artist, but the LP has also set a record in 2023 as Spotify’s most streamed album in a single day so far this year, according to Variety.

Just over a year ago she set the record with the release of her album Midnights.

Spotify has not released the exact figures, but it did appear that the new vault track S**t! (Taylor’s Version) made its US debut at number one with 5.2 million streams.

Worldwide that number was 11.3 million.

On the global chart, the singer’s non-vault track, Style, did even better with 11.6 million streams.

The singer, who is preparing to return to the road on her Eras tour, has not commented on the success of 1989 (Taylor’s Version).

However, she thanked fellow artist Kendrick Lamar on Instagram for agreeing to re-record the Bad Blood re-mix on the new release.

“Watching @kenricklamar create and record his verses on the Bad Blood remix was one of the most inspiring experiences of my life,” she wrote.

“I still look back on this collaboration with so much pride and gratitude for the ways Kendrick elevated the song and the way he treats everyone around him.”

“Every time the crowd on The Eras Tour chanted his line, ‘You forgive, you forget, but you never… let it go!’, I smiled. The reality that Kendrick would go back and re-record Bad Blood so that I could reclaim and own this work that I am so proud of is surreal and mind-boggling to me.”

The Eras tour concludes its 2023 edition starting November 9 in Buenos Aires, Argentina and running through November 26 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Sunday was expected to mark the first time the Anti-Hero singer was not present at a Kansas City Chiefs game to see her new boyfriend Travis Kelce, 34, take the field.

Her presence over the past month has boosted the NFL ratings, but it’s unclear what will happen when she’s not in a skybox for cutscenes.
