This led to several guests, VMA staffers and Taylor, 33, himself scouring the area in hopes of finding the gem.

The results of their efforts remain unknown, but unfortunately for Taylor, she wasn’t pictured with the ring for the rest of the night.

On Tuesday, Swift told the audience as she accepted the Best Pop award for Anti-Hero: “I love making pop music, I love making pop music videos, I love making country too.

“I love dabbling between different genres and the only reason I get to do that is because you, the fans, gave me the opportunity to do so.”

She added, “One big adventure and it’s all so much to challenge myself to make music that’s different from what I’ve made last, and I just love you. But I really love making pop music, so thank you very much.”

“This is incredible – I just want to say that the fact that this is a fan-voted award means so much to me,” she said. “Based on the memories we’ve made recently, the most joyful and exciting experience, and we’re not even half way there yet.
