Taylor Swift Announces She’s Releasing Her 1989 Hit Album As Her Latest ‘Taylor’s Version’ Re-Recording With Five New Songs

Taylor Swift has announced that her next reissue album will be her 2014 hit 1989.

The superstar broke the news during her performance in Los Angeles on Thursday night, revealing that the re-recording will be out in October and will feature five new songs.

Revealing the cover art on her Instagram page after the show, Taylor gushed that it’s “my most FAVORITE re-recording I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault songs are so insane.” I can’t believe they were ever left behind.’

The 2014 album, which originally featured 13 tracks on the standard edition and 16 tracks on the deluxe edition, includes her hit singles Shake It Off and Blank Space, among others.

Taylor’s news was met with great excitement at California’s SoFi Stadium as she teased:

“So here we are on the last night of the U.S. leg of the Eras tour in the eighth month of the year, on the ninth day,” before telling the audience that she’s “planned this for a long time.”

Writing on Instagram, Taylor gushed: ‘Surprise!! 1989 Taylor’s Version is on its way to you. The 1989 album has changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th.

The 1989 Taylor’s Version has been circulating fans for weeks, with the star dropping Easter Eggs for Swifties on her current world tour.

Ahead of her series of performances in LA, the SoFi Stadium Posted four telling photos with clues pointing to the 1989 album.

Taylor remade her previous albums after a dispute with her old label Big Machine Records.

She has so far released Fearless (Taylor’s Version) Red (Taylor’s Version) before Speak Now last month.

In 2019, Taylor took to her Tumblr to reveal that “bully” Scooter Braun – who is the manager of Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and many more – has taken over the label she was previously with – Big Machine Records.

His company Ithaca Holdings LLC bought Big Machine Label Group for a reported $300 million.

The deal included the master recordings of all six of her albums – all of her previous music and her legacy.

On her Tumblr post, Taylor slammed both Scooter and Big Machine Label Group CEO Scott Borchetta, revealing that she wasn’t given the chance to buy her own masters and that the former bullied her for years.

It is now rumored that the busy star is also currently making a documentary fans spotted a professional film crew at her performances in LA.

Per TMZfilm crews have been actively following the music artist, capturing her best angles as she performs to sold-out crowds, capturing behind-the-scenes moments.

While many high-profile entertainers are walking around with filmmakers in tow, Taylor’s extensive staff suggests she may be up to something major.

Swift released the Netflix documentary Miss Americana earlier in 2020.

Taylor has filled her Eras shows with a whopping 45 songs, as well as a selection of surprise numbers, with fans eagerly awaiting which songs would make an unlikely appearance each night.
