Fans have slammed Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce for their “sheer embarrassment” and “filthy” antics in the crowd during the US Open final on Sunday.
Taylor and Travis, accompanied by their best friends Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, headed to Arthur Ashe Stadium to watch Italian world number 1 Jannik Sinner take on American star Taylor Fritz for the final Grand Slam title of the year.
At one point during the final round, the spotlight was on the famous supercouple as they performed the iconic 2000s rock song “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” by The Darkness in the stands. A clip of the moment set the internet alight.
While the singer’s loyal fans and some tennis fans were in awe, others criticized Swift and Kelce for not behaving properly and putting on a show for the cameras in New York.
A user wrote on X: ‘Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are absolutely ridiculous at the US Open, this looks completely forced and unnatural’.

Another commented: ‘No other couple in the celeb world loves the cameras as much. We still can’t believe it.’
“If you can’t see Taylor being overly dramatic and making a fool of herself, then you’re beyond help,” a third said. “No one acts like a 15 year old on her first booze cruise at the US Open. It’s the US Open, not a football game in a bar. Maybe she’s just trash vs class, I don’t know.”
A fan commented on the post and agreed: ‘That’s what I said! Do you see any more couples kissing in the stands?! Like you said, it’s the US Open, not a football game, so have some decency.’
“She definitely won’t be invited to Wimbledon,” concluded another.
While one simply said: ‘unbelievably chilling’.
In another clip, shared by comedian Matt Friend, Swift can be seen bouncing along to a different song while dancing to Kelce as he chats with teammate Mahomes.

Taylor and Brittany put an end to any rumors of a possible rift between them by embracing each other
Taylor and Travis arrived in New York City on Friday and visited Brooklyn-based pizzeria Lucali that evening. They were greeted by numerous paparazzi upon arrival.
The trip to the US Open ended the weekend before Kelce returned to Kansas City for the Chiefs’ Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Swift was in the stands at their home opener victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday in Arrowhead, watching the game with Kelce’s family.
After they weren’t together that night, there was talk of a possible rift between Taylor and Mahomes’ wife Brittany after Mahomes liked a post from Donald Trump on Instagram last month.
However, the best friends put an end to any rumors of a feud when they were spotted with their best friend at the US Open final.
