Taylor Sheridan proved to be a ratings champion after his hit shows went head-to-head with streaming giant Netflix last week.
Two of the showrunners, directors and writers, the Yellowstone 1923 prequel starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren and the Sylvester Stallone vehicle Tulsa King, ranked among the top 10 streaming shows and movies last week, according to the envelope.
Samba TV’s ratings had the third episode of 1923 just below the Netflix detective comedy film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, while the eighth episode of Tulsa King was ranked number five.
The highest ranking for 1923 was for a dramatic episode in which star Harrison Ford was shot dead, raising fears that he might leave the series early, although it was later revealed that he barely survived the attack.

According to The Wrap, 1923’s placement on the top 10 list is a sign of Paramount+’s growing strength, thanks in large part to its portfolio of hit Sheridan shows, which also includes the earlier Yellowstone spin-off of a single season, 1883.
The rest of the streaming top 10 was dedicated to Netflix releases, including Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical, three episodes of Treason, two episodes of Kaleidoscope and an episode of the Addams Family spinoff on Wednesday.
Sheridan’s flagship series Yellowstone as Best Linear Television Show for its New Year’s Day episode.
The rest of the list was split between the major broadcast channels, except for Paramount Network’s 1923 second episode broadcast.

Paramount seems to have a hit on its hands with 1923, which featured a series of shocking deaths in its third episode, but the show doesn’t last long for linear television.
The series will transition exclusively to the Paramount+ streamer after giving viewers a taste of its Western drama, hoping to boost subscriber count for the burgeoning service, which also includes a variety of CBS shows and movies.
Sheridan’s empire at Paramount+ will expand even further with the new CIA thriller series Lioness, which recently added Nicole Kidman as one of its stars alongside Zoe Saldana.
Sheridan also created the thriller Mayor Of Kingstown, starring Jeremy Renner, who recently suffered serious injuries after being struck by his seven-ton snowplow.

Sheridan has many other projects in the works, and has suggested that he could host more Yellowstone prequel shows, possibly set in the 1940s and 1960s.
The actor-turned-filmmaker-showrunner currently lives in Texas, where he owns and runs his own ranches with his wife Nicole and son Gus, giving him plenty of real-life inspiration for Yellowstone.
His flagship series has long been snubbed by awards since its premiere in 2018, but that may be changing after its star Kevin Costner scored a Best Actor nomination at the Golden Globes as the show tries to come back from scandals over the diversity.
Paramount’s confidence in Sheridan has led the network to allow him to film enough shows to have production costs of more than $1 billion in total.
