Taylor Lautner simply can’t stop backflipping at Taylor Swift’s events

Taylor Lautner just invented a new category of acrobatic moves: the twitchy backflip, which he’s specifically performed at more than one Taylor Swift event.

In July the Twilight The star took the stage during a stop in Kansas City on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour and did a downward backflip. He came on stage to celebrate starring in Swift’s recently released “I Can See You” music video, alongside Joey King and Presly Cash, who weren’t doing backflips on stage when they came out.

And on Tuesday’s episode of the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he finally opened up about the reason why:

I’m doing something weird and it doesn’t make sense, so forgive me. But if I panic, get really nervous and black out, I go straight to the backflip. So I stepped out the door and I saw this, like, this walkway. And it was about 200 feet away in the field. And I’m like, ‘Should I walk through this whole thing? This is going to be so awkward.” I was like, “Do a backflip, then I’ll take up space and it’ll be over.”

This wouldn’t be the last time Lautner performed a backflip at a Taylor Swift event. Him again did a backflip at a Taylor Swift screening Eras tour concert film. In October, he and his wife Taylor Lautner (yes, they’re both named Taylor Lautner) hosted a screening of the concert film — during which he did another backflip, this time landing Spider-Man.

Where will the man make the next somersault? If the Taylors continue to work together, and if he’s on an even bigger stage, maybe we’ll get a full tumbling pass or cheerleading routine? You can only hope.
