‘Making Real Madrid look like Real Salt Lake!’: MLS fans stunned as New York City FC striker Taty Castellanos scores FOUR goals against Champions League holders on loan at Girona
Taty Castellanos waves the Major League Soccer flag in style in LaLiga, with the New York City FC mercenary scoring four times against Real Madrid for Girona on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old led his side to a shock 4-2 victory in Spain and put a major blow to Real’s meager title hopes in a game the team needed to win amid an 11-point deficit to leaders Barcelona.
But Castellanos had other ideas with his sensational four-goal blitz, which did not go unnoticed in America or even the rest of global football.
Castellanos is the first player to score four goals against Real in the 21st century and unbelievably, he hit the ball just 15 times in 72 minutes of the game.
“Taty Castellanos makes Real Madrid look like Real Salt Lake,” said Yank Report, an American football account on Twitter.

The official Major League Soccer account tweeted, “That kid from Taty Castellanos is pretty, pretty good.”
“Not bad for someone who played half his games on a baseball field,” Men in Blazers tweeted, referring to New York City’s performance at Yankee Stadium, home of the New York Yankees.
In addition, Castellanos’ New York team is owned by the same company that owns Manchester City – against whom Real will play next in the Champions League.
Castellanos last played for New York last July – a 1-0 win against Inter Miami – and left midway through the 2022 MLS season when he was the league’s top scorer.
He also won the MLS Cup in the Big Apple.
After his departure was announced, Castellanos said, “I came to New York City four years ago and this experience was everything I could have wanted.
“This is where I grew up and took my game to the next level. MLS is a strong and highly competitive league with fantastic quality.
“I’ve always said the people at the club are incredible, it’s like a family. My teammates and the great staff who spent so much time with me helped me become the player I am today.

“I was so proud to win the Golden Boot last year and help the team bring Club’s first MLS Cup home to our fans – it’s a special moment in my life and one that will stay with me forever. keep up.
“Thank you to the best fans in the league for always supporting me and cheering me on every game, you have given me so much faith over the years.”
Castellanos scored 53 goals and recorded 19 assists in 116 MLS regular season and MLS Cup Playoffs appearances for NYCFC, and is only the second player in NYCFC history to score more than 50 goals for the club.
