Canadian superstar Tate McRae has opened up about her relationship with Australian singer The Kid Laroi.
The 21-year-old global hitmakers are both currently in Australia for their respective world tours, with Laroi also performing at the NRL grand final in his native Sydney on Sunday.
Speaking to KIIS Network’s Will & Woody on Monday, Tate shared details about her blossoming relationship with the Australian superstar.
The radio hosts asked the Greedy singer how it felt to make music with her boyfriend.
‘He certainly did that [get nervous]. Like when I said ‘Laroi,’ I looked at him and he was pale, like he looked like he’d just seen a ghost,” she said.
Tate has been on her Think Later tour, named after her second album, for most of the year.
During her sold-out performance at New York’s Madison Square Garden in August, Tate The Kid called on Laroi to perform a stripped-down duet of his song Without You at the iconic venue.
“He’s performed on the biggest stages and with the craziest people, and he walked on my stage and he literally looked like he wanted to cry,” Tate said.

“I’m very routine with my shows,” the pop star said. “If I choose to sit down, I will sit down.
“He’s very like – whatever. He’s a rapper. So he’s walking around.’
Midway through the performance, the You Broke Me First singer said The Kid Laroi blindsided her by improvising.
“He takes my hand and he picks me up,” Tate continued.
She explained what was going through her mind at that moment: ‘Don’t pick me up now! We have not practiced this’.
“Like I’m sitting here trying to do my job and I’m like, ‘Oh my God,’ and so it was funny.”
“And at the end he does this big story. He says, “I’m so proud of you.” All these things. And then he pauses. I totally thought he was done talking!’
‘And I’m like, “Give it up for the Kid Laroi!” I cut it off completely.”

Radio hosts Woody and Allen revealed to Tate that they asked The Kid Laroi the same question during a recent interview with the Stay singer.
‘Are [the] The sweetest thing, as if someone were sharing their stage with you, right?’ he said.
“I think one of the best things you can do is share a stage and a platform with someone you love.
“It’s a really cool thing to do and it was just a great memory to have… It’s definitely not like asking to go buy kitchen utensils.”
The GIRLS singer also admitted that seeing his pop star girlfriend on stage was “the most nervous” he has ever been.
‘[It was] like one of the most nervous times I’ve ever been on stage, like I don’t want to screw this up.”
Tate McRae and The Kid Laroi officially confirmed their relationship in April 2024 and have been dating since January
After months of speculation that the musical duo were dating, The Kid Laroi made it official with the Canadian star at one of his own shows earlier this year.
He confirmed the relationship with fans during a concert in Ireland on April 14.
The moment came between songs while Laroi was on stage.
He told the crowd at Dublin’s 3Arena: “I want everyone here to sing this as loud as they can because my girlfriend is here tonight and I don’t want to look stupid.”
Fan cameras then panned to stage left and showed Tate giggling as she watched the show.
“If you guys don’t sing this really loud…” the Sydney star added: “It’s going to embarrass me.”
