US technology giant Apple Inc. is set to open its fourth iPhone assembly plant in India. It will be built by its main contract manufacturer Tata Electronics and production is likely to begin in November, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The plant in Hosur in Tamil Nadu will be the second iPhone assembly plant for Tata Electronics, following the two-year-in-the-making acquisition of the division of Taiwanese EMS player Wistron.
According to sources, preparations are in full swing to launch iPhones from the 250-acre facility, which already houses a components factory
