A father of three has admitted to paying a Filipino mother to pimp her young children online so he could watch them being abused as he performed a sexual act on himself.

Rodney James Bessell, 64, paid about $100 for the Skype shows in September 2019, the Supreme Court in Burnie, Tasmania heard Thursday.

And the vile abuse didn’t end until his shocked wife found out about it.

The darts champion’s mean, secret life began when he met a woman from the Philippines online.

Through this woman he met the mother, who had the children abused for his satisfaction via Skype.

The young girls were then about 12 years old.

Bessell asked one of the women if the children “liked to touch each other” and if they wanted to see “his” genitals. the Mercury reported.

He pleaded guilty to ten charges of encouraging the acquisition of a child into sexual activity, engaging in sexual acts with a child (other than intercourse), causing the transmission of child abuse material and possessing material for child abuse.

Bessell’s attorney Greg Richardson asked Judge Tamara Jago if she would consider giving his client a suspended sentence.

But Public Prosecutor Krista Breckweg rejected the suggestion.

“He knew that these kids were actually being pimped by their mother and only stopped his behavior because his wife found out,” she told the court.

Richardson also said Bessell had paid for his crimes and was unable to live in Tasmania because of the shame.

He also said he was now unemployed.

The miner had a jewelry and trophy shop in Burnie and was captain of the Australian Darts Team until 2019.

Richardson also said that Bessell was not part of a child porn ring and that none of the online victims had been penetrated.

But Ms Breckweg told the court that Bessell knew the victims were under 16 and that they had set up an online wire transfer account to pay for the services.

She added that he specifically asked for young children and said it was “nice” if they were virgins.

The maximum penalty for encouraging a child to engage in sexual activity was 20 years in prison, the court heard.

Bessell will be sentenced on October 21.
