Aussie real estate agents star in ‘cringe’ 80s-inspired action video in a bid to sell family home: ‘That’s one way to do it’

A pair of Australian estate agents have amused buyers with the action movie-inspired video they created in a bid to sell a family home.

Aaron Murray and John McGregor of 4one4 Property Co. in Hobart were inspired by the ‘army bunker’-esque facade of the New Norfolk house they are selling, so they decided to have some fun with it.

The duo recreated a scene from the 1980s Arnold Schwarzenegger film Predator to pique the interest of potential buyers.

Aaron told FEMAIL that he and his team were not confident people would understand the reference. However, many enjoyed the clip, despite others calling it ‘a bit weird’.

‘Sometimes our industry is not that exciting. You see most officers in black and blue suits and a white shirt, so it’s nice to try something different,” he said.

Aaron told FEMAIL that he and his team weren’t sure if people would understand the reference, but many enjoyed the hilarious clip, while others found it “a bit weird.”

“The world is much more technology-oriented and online, so we have to try to have some fun with different videos, get that extra little click or that little nice twist to grab the consumer’s attention a little more than average.”

The promotional video for the three-bedroom house was a shot-for-shot remake of the introduction in Predator, which featured John burning a cigar while flying to the office in a CGI helicopter.

John is given a mock briefing for a ‘special operation’ before Aaron goes over the specs of the military-inspired path using lines and dialogue from the famous scene.

“I understand why you brought us in, this one has huge potential to blow up,” John said earlier

“When we started talking to our media team about what we wanted to do with the process, we said, ‘Well, it looks like a bunker to us,’” Aaron said.

The clip then cuts to an aerial view of the street and the house goes up in flames in a fake explosion.

Aaron said it took five to eight hours to write the script and film the scenes.

“We weren’t sure, we weren’t sure if everyone was going to get the references,” he said.

‘There have been a few questions that only come from the video. And then of course people see on our social media that they either really like it or find it very strange.’

Viewers loved the hilarious recreation, calling it “epic,” “iconic” and “amazing.”

This isn’t the first time the real estate team has been creative with their marketing techniques.

They previously shot a James Bond-inspired marketing video and for a house within walking distance of Hobart’s iconic Mona Museum, they filmed themselves dramatically racing each other from the property to the hotspot.
