How a mischievous Aussie animal caused this RIDICULOUS situation: ‘Never a dull moment’

- The Mount Gnomon farmer said there was “never a dull moment.”
A “naughty possum” dumped 12 tons of grain over a farmer’s wagon in a costly accident that could have cost the company more than $6,000.
The cheeky creature accidentally flipped a switch that emptied an entire silo with devastating consequences on the Mount Gnomon farm in northwestern Tasmania.
Thankfully, the ute’s owner saw the funny side of it and posted a photo of the aftermath on Friday as the cleanup sprang into action.
The photo showed the huge silo next to the ute with contents engulfing the dark-colored Mazda parked near some trailers and bushland.
The farmer captioned the photo: ‘Never a dull moment!’
They said the switch that let the grain out of the silo was in the off position, but was still plugged into the wall – until the possum turned it on and caused chaos.

“The moment a mischievous possum flips the switch on your electricity and dumps 12 tons of grain all over your ute and soil,” the Tasmanian said on social media.
‘It’s happened before. We should have learned the lesson of underestimating the intellectual capacity of a possum.
‘Definitely unplug the power in the future and install cameras to capture the brutal culprit.’
The farmer praised the Tasmanian Stockfeeds team who rushed to salvage the pyramid-shaped grain heap with a giant vacuum – before the rains hit.
It saved the company from a loss of more than $6,000.
‘They have done a great job and almost all the grain has been safely returned to the silo. We then opened the gates for the pigs to clean up the waste,” said the farmer.
“There’s never a dull moment on the farm and yes, there were a few expletives.”
The photo attracted a slew of jokes and other opossum disaster stories.
“And I thought they were being rude when they came through the cat flap at my house and ate my hot bread!” said a Tassie woman.
“We should have learned the lesson of underestimating a possum’s intellectual capacity,” said the farmer
“It’s happened to us before – a hemp silo always grounded the electricity before we left,” wrote another.
“That’s funny but at the same time – wow!!!” a third said about photo.
“After grain comes rain. Old Chinese proverb,’ said a sage.
“Possum stew on the menu this week?” joked another.
“That’s a lot of shoveling,” another wrote, while another suggested that “the possum was just trying to help by loading the ute for you.”
“Only in Tassie,” one resident wrote.
