Inside the sordid family love triangle that shocked Australia – as relatives reveal WHY mum sat in the front seat while her son had sex with his sister-in-law

A mother sat in the front seat of a car while her son and his sister-in-law had sex in the backseat because she was the only one with a valid driver’s license to take them to their secret rendezvous in a housing commission car park, relatives have revealed.

Sue McCulloch, a great-grandmother, lived with her son David McCulloch and his wife Jacinta King and their four adult children in a house in Ulverstone, northern Tasmania, before their lives were turned upside down on March 28.

That evening, Sue got into the car and drove to the home of her youngest son, Jamie McCulloch, with Jacinta as a passenger. She then drove them both about 16 miles to a government apartment building in Devonport, where her grandson had lived.

David and Jacinta’s son had given his grandmother the keys because he was away and thought she might want to stay there, away from the family home.

“Mum saw that as an opportunity,” he told Daily Mail Australia. He then explained that Jacinta ordered his grandmother to drive to the ward and stay in the car while she had sex with Jamie, and Sue reluctantly complied.

The situation turned into a disaster when David realized what was happening and drove to the unit block, sped through the car park, crashed into their car and went on a violent rampage with a shovel.

While David is now in prison for assault, Jacinta and Jamie live together in a filthy caravan parked in the driveway of a suburban house.

When asked for comment on Wednesday, Jamie described the situation as “hog wash” but otherwise couldn’t string together a coherent sentence.

When asked if he knew if his brother was in jail, Jamie laughed and muttered, “I know.”

On Thursday they drove together to the Salvation Army store in Devonport and seemed disappointed when it was closed.

The violent altercation on March 28 only ended when a concerned resident called police.

The resident told Daily Mail Australia she saw Sue’s car from the front that evening but didn’t realize what was happening until David grabbed the shovel and started banging on the vehicle.

She remembered him shouting, “You’re nothing but a dog, you damn dog, you’re supposed to be my brother, how can you root my wife?”

Sue locked the car doors and Jamie continued to have sex with Jacinta, until David pried the door open and started throwing punches.

David then turned to Sue and shouted, “You’re not a mother’s bastard, you’re nothing but a slut,” and pushed her into a dumpster.

Jamie tried to run away and hide in some nearby bushes, but David found him and started laying on him with the shovel, the resident recalled.

‘And not the flat end [of the shovel]she added. “The sharp edge, right in the neck, side and leg, said he wanted to kill him, and then he turned to Sue and said he wanted to do the same to her.”

“It looked like he was trying to decapitate him.”

Police arrived and David was charged with a series of assault-related offences, while his wife and brother were taken to Mersey Community Hospital with bruises and minor cuts.

During his police interview, David expressed extreme frustration over the incident, claiming his brother ‘deserved it’.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, David’s son expressed the same sentiment.

Referring to his parents, he said, “A man loved a woman and she didn’t love him anymore, end of story.”

He said the affair had been going on “for years,” and that his father “finally went ahead and ended it.”

“To me they are dead,” he said.

“I don’t want anything to do with them, my brothers and sisters don’t want anything to do with them.”

Police raided David and Jacinta’s property after the arrest on March 28.

They found an unsecured homemade handgun in the laundry and approximately 240 grams of cannabis in ziplock bags. He later admitted to selling and supplying the drug.

He pleaded guilty to a series of assaults, along with possession of cannabis and a homemade firearm.

During sentencing in the Burnie Supreme Court last week, Judge Tamara Jago accepted the circumstances surrounding the violence were “confronting”.

She said: ‘The betrayal by your wife and brother, and the apparent resignation of your mother, must have been disturbing, and whilst you can understand that this would give rise to a level of fear and frustration, it in no way excuses what happened you then did. did.

‘It does place your behavior in a specific context.

“This was not premeditated or planned behavior, but rather a spontaneous response to you discovering a difficult situation involving a breach of trust.”

The judge said McCulloch intended to cause serious bodily harm to his brother, but given the mild nature of his injuries it was unlikely that most of the blows with the shovel were actually related to Jamie’s body.

She continued, “The actual damage was moderate.”

‘There is no doubt that what you did was exceptionally serious and that your use of the shovel had the potential to cause serious harm, but the context in which the violence was committed was, in all the circumstances, morally provocative.

“You reacted very inappropriately, but I admit it was an emotional response to the circumstances you discovered.”

She was satisfied he was not at risk of reoffending and took into account his early guilty pleas, but said the sentence should reflect the serious nature of the crimes and act as general deterrent.

He was sentenced to three years in prison, backdated to May 7, when he was taken into custody.

The last eighteen months of his sentence are suspended, on the condition that he does not commit any crimes for two years.

He was also fined $1,000.
