Task Force too good for Ripon rivals as colt wins Champion Two-Year-Old Trophy to remain undefeated
- Task Force (11/8 favorite) defeated Matters Most and Seven Questions
- He maintained his undefeated record with a clear win on Monday
- Task Force is the son of two Guineas winners in Frankel and Special Duty
The Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on September 30 is scheduled for the Task Force after the Ralph Beckett-trained colt took two wins from as many runs.
He took a striking length and a quarter win over stablemate Matters Most in the Champion Two-Year-Old Trophy at Ripon.
The Rossa Ryan-ridden 11-8 favorite showed signs of inexperience as he backed up his impressive debut win at Salisbury.
Task Force’s lineage makes him very interesting. The colt, bred and owned by Juddmonte, is by the great Frankel, while his dam Special Duty won both the English and French 1,000 Guineas in 2010.
Plans for Nostrum are on hold after the Sir Michael Stoute-trained colt finished weakly as firm favorite for the Strensall Stakes at York on Saturday.
It was the second race in a row that the acclaimed colt failed to live up to expectations, but the final start was well below expectations.
