A senior Comanchero biker who survived an assassination attempt that killed his brother and saw him shot ten times has appeared before a judge from prison, missing an eye and has a new look.
Tarek Zahed, 41, appeared in the NSW Supreme Court Monday afternoon via video link from Long Bay prison in eastern Sydney, looking very different from the man arrested in a dramatic attack on the street eight weeks ago.
Since he was arrested and charged with murder, Zahed has grown a full brown beard and mustache and wore black-rimmed glasses.
When Judge Peter Hamill announced that his bail application would be delayed until Nov. 14 and heard before another judge, Zahed took off his glasses to rub the eye socket.

In May, Zahed miraculously survived an assassination attempt at Bodyfit Gym in Auburn in Sydney’s west.
It was then reported that a bullet had stabbed him right through his eyeball and he was rushed to hospital, fighting for his life.
Tarek Zahed was dramatically arrested in eastern Sydney at 4.50pm on August 28 – with police shooting ‘bean bags’ through the windows of his car – and later charged him with an alleged murder in 2014
Zahed – dubbed the ‘Balenciaga Bikie’ for his high fashion – has been charged with murder and kidnapping in company with intent to commit a serious criminal offense
He was operated on with 10 gunshot wounds to his head and body. His brother Omar, 39, died at the scene.
Zahed was later first seen dining with Comanchero National President Allan Meehan and other associates, decked out in designer clothes and jewelry.
Despite shooting 10 times, there were no visible scars on the cyclist’s face in the photo.
At the time, a source said he was ‘completely lost’ vision in his right eye’, rendering him virtually blind, as he already had reduced vision in his left eye.
“He had an incident years ago where the vision in his left eye is only 20 to 30 percent,” the source said.
“So now that he’s probably blind in his right eye, he’ll almost be unable to see at all.”
From the hospital, Zahed (left) did not resurface in public until late August in a social media photo shared by the national president of the Comanchero gang, Allan Meehan (second from left)
But now it turns out that Zahed’s right eye had to be completely removed.
In late August, less than a week after he showed up at the restaurant, police dramatically arrested Zahed on a Sydney street.

The injured bike boss sat on the road next to his damaged BMW hatchback, dazed and with blood dripping down his face as he was approached by the police.
Zahed was later charged with the gangland murder of 29-year-old Youssef Assoum, who was found bleeding in Bankstown in 2014.
Zahed briefly appeared in the NSW Supreme Court on Monday before it was closed to hear a suppression order request over some material involved in Zahed’s bail application.
